May as well just draw lots. Doesn't matter though. SEC doesn't care. All they care about is the revenue the game generates. They don't care who's playing in it.

Right now with 16 conference games remaining there's 65,536 ways this could turn out. Once this weekend is over and that number drops to 4,096, I might tackle this in a spreadsheet.

Burns just tweeted that if all favorites win out LSU makes it.
Good find. Oh my! if that happens..... and lsu won the SECCG.... OM is probably out.

Btw, I reset the calculator to all favorites win. (Missouri beats Arkansas). Alabama would be in the SECCG.

Simple fix. SEC 16 team playoff to determine the champ after the regular season. The SEC college football season is now 20 weeks, Labor Day to the week of the Super Bowl with the championship game played at the Super Bowl site the Saturday before.***

That's neat. I did some guesses, and it appears that A&M are really the only ones who control their own destiny. They win out and they win, regardless of anything else. Texas needs to win out and needs a Tennessee loss to UGA or Vandy. Tried several scenarios and didn't find one that resulted in a UGA or OM win.

Game will be done away with soon. Scenarios just like this... and the fact that there are teams that are probably wishing and hoping they dont have to go to Atlanta.

When there was n east and west... and some sort of balanced scheduling where teams played similar teams it made sense. This doesnt.

Spoke too soon. This combo gets OM an SEC championship.

It will make for great internet and TV fodder. It will draw people in who just want to ***** about it. I could see it continuing just for that reason

"Fixing" this is probably a separate discussion, but this is one thing that soccer gets right. Could easily do 4 team pods playing a round robin, followed by a semifinal and championship weekend. Fill in the rest of the schedule based on some algorithm that prioritizes proper number of home games, preserves historical rivalries, etc.

Exactly! It's not like they are amateurs anymore. If we have to pay them, we should be able to play them.

I have always loved this idea. Would make the whole season feel like a playoff. And even if you are out you could always play spoiler

you guys do realize that currently we have a 12 game regular season
if you make atlanta thats 13
if you lose in atlanta and dont get the bye.. thats 4 more games you have to win to be the champion

thats 17 games.

You're now talking about a semi final game just to get to sec championship game??

The more games you play against each other. The more of a chance you have to cannibalize yourself as a league... and hurt a teams chances to win and be successful in the post-season. Games will not and should not be added.

No. You set up the games in season to play like a round robin. Then have semifinal games and the final. No games added

Yes you're still adding a semi final game. Thus there is 1 more game for teams to have to play. Currently there is no semi final game...

Unless your talking about turning the entire CFB landscape into this pod system... which would be impssobile to do.

If the SEC cared about having a "true" champion, it would be easy. Two groups of 8 teams. Play everyone round robin. Play a "non-conference" crossover game. Then the group winners play for the championship. They don't care. This isn't about determining a "true" champion. They don't care who plays in the game or who wins it. It's all about the revenue.

a little harsh there. It was once this. They've just yet to be able to adapt to the changing of times yet. Things have moved very fast over the last 4 years.

Some leagues were late(r) to the champ game party. Then everyone joined in. I think there are a lot of conferences still trying to figure out the best way to tackle this new landscape with the new playoff and bigger conferences.

I expect some sort of solution soon.

That can't be true. I doubt LSU could make it without both Texas and Alabama losing a game.
Texas would be in at 7-1. I think LSU would get in bc it would go to total win percentage if conf opponents. They lost to Bama but beat OM and Bama lost to UT so it has to be some quirky tiebreak

I just found an eight-way tie at 6-2. This is my rooting interest now.
