So, I don't think the alleged "cheating" was on his wife, but his long time live-in girlfriend.

The "other guy" is retarded. If you're going to extort someone, don't try to extort someone who makes a living with comedy. Idiot. He was just pissed because he found out Letterman was schlutting his girlfriend out for years.

....I know he has dated her for a long time. They were married last March according to the article. I guess it doesn't really matter.

show, and his now-wife also worked on the show for several years while they were a couple.

when he wasn't married. But this just furthers the point, famous people don't have to get married, they just date people forever, father their kids but never get married so they can go and sleep with other people, including those that have boyfriends or husbands.

But hey, he went all Citizens On Patrol on the guy so I guess Im supposed to love him.

The guy ain't no Adonis, he couldn't get laid in prison if it weren't for his fame/money. I used to like Letterman but he really is a mean spirited old man now.

it's cheating whether or not they were legally married. As for him being a hero for cheating, he's a scumbag for cheating. But he does get credit from me for having the guts to turn the tables on the guy who tried to extort him.

Letterman has sucked for years. How he has kept a show for this long is really the only thing that's funny pertaining to his career. I've always thought he was a douchebag and now he has confirmed it. How in the hell is this sports related?

Anyone been keeping up with the supreme court and the fact that they're going to hear the case out of Chicago dealing with the 2nd ammendment and whether states can make bans on guns?

Incredible how on the show taping, when he admits to having sex with several employees, the audience claps. Would a school board clap if the principal made such an announcement?

but all this happened as a result of his own boneheaded decisions and now they are trying to make him out as the victim.

as I'm sure some others have. And for the life of me I can't understand why they didn't prep the crowd first. You are prepped on everything else when you get there...for like an hour. How the show will work, when the breaks will occur, don't let us catch you taking pictures (or else...seriously, or else) and finally, you will laugh when those signs come on. We mean it...you'd better laugh!

So, why couldn't they explain Dave would take time out to tell a serious story? Or something like that? Weird.

And he is a jackass by the way.

understand, it's illegal to blackmail someone. It is not illegal to have sex with someone. Maybe he's a jerk, but he's not a criminal. The guy who blackmailed him, however, is a criminal. And I disagree with everyone in this thread who says he isn't funny. He's still funny, especially compared to Leno, Fallon, and Conan.

No. He's a liberal, and if you're a liberal, you can't be funny, only an *******, douchebag, etc.

Don't you know anything? Political alliances rule all!

Female staffer(s) comes forward with accusations that Dave forced sexual relationships upon them. He's trying to get the sympathy vote before the mud slinging.

Yeah, I still like Letterman, but he's not near as funny as he used to be. But, who is as funny as he used to be? In the 80s and early 90s, he was the best. No one could touch him. Then Leno started to steal all his bits, water them down, and then became the No. 1 talk show. I think that burned Lettterman so bad, he could never get over it. I believe that's why he started to dial it in. Every once in a while, though, he'll still knock it out of the park.

But I think it is a ridiculous crime. Someone threatened to publish some truthful information about Letterman unless he paid up. What if the "blackmailer" had sold this gossip to a third party (a tabloid, blog, website, etc)? If it is OK to sell it to a 3rd party, why is not OK to sell it to those directly involved?
