Looks like my Raiders will be 2A come 2017 - just two schools short of 3A. I can't say that I am particularly happy about that. Then again, there will probably be a lot of 2A schools who are not happy to line up against us week after week for 4 years.

North Davidson dropping all the way down to 2A with the new high school being built out that way, probably will be in the CCC,that would make the most sence,I wonder how ND fans feel about that happening?

Seems like the locals voted for the tax increase to build a new school due to ND and Ledford being overcrowded

The thing about North Davidson will be that they will still have a high ADM numbers in 2017 and 2018. The school will start with 9th and 10th graders when they open. All the junior and senior football players will still be available.

Saw one proposed conf that had Clinton Wallace James Kenan and East Bladen all in the same conf...I like it hope it happens
Man...... only drawback in that conf. would be, if you go to one great game you may miss another one: each week. Lol

With Ledford and Central Davidson moving back down to 2A, the CCC could look something like this in 2017:

East Davidson
Central Davidson
North Davidson
Lexington
Thomasville
West Davidson

With North Davidson, Central Davidson, and Ledford all moving down to 2A, I would think they more than likely would join the CCC along with Thomasville, East Davidson, and Lexington.

agree with poster above, North and Ledford likely should have stayed put in their current class, 4A and 3A respectively, because the new Oak Grove High School opens in 2017 with only fresh and sophs, and won't be full until likely 2020-2021. North and Ledford will benefit competitively from having higher numbers than anybody in 2A for a few years.

I would hate to see SD-7 broken up but if I had my pick at any changes West Caldwell would be swapped out with North Lincoln. I believe NL is moving back down to 2A. Geographically it would be ideal to have a Catawba/Lincoln County conference.

No disrespect to WC, that head coach has pushed that team in the right direction and they can give teams fits.

At the bottom of this link are some proposed conference realignments done for each classification by Nick Stevens and staff at HighSchoolOT.com

Conference 45 (1A/2A)
Brevard
Smoky Mountain
Franklin
Highlands (1A)
Blue Ridge (1A)
Rosman (1A)

...and I stopped paying attention to anything he just said. If you want a good shot at complete speculation, and we are ok with plugging other web sites, then check out the work Jim West did on Carolina Preps.

Grizzly, South Point and East Gaston are moving to 2A while Hunter Huss and Stuart Cramer are moving up to 3A. There have been some suggestions for a Gaston/Lincoln conference with Shelby thrown in for good measure.

South Point
East Gaston
Shelby
Lincolnton
East Lincoln
West Lincoln
North Lincoln
Lake Norman Charter

Why are we doing this? Doesn't realignment take place in 2017???

10 teams, this would be very interesting around here. But would make some great games, especially adding East and West Bladen.

TWA, there's no way a few of those Davidson County schools would let that happen. They want no part of Andrews in their league for a variety of reasons and I'll leave it at that. There will be an all Davidson county league, with Andrews staying put playing in a Randolph county league

And the proposal you linked would have Andrews in a 9 team league with a 7 team league just as close by. I think it'll be two 8 team leagues with Andrews with the Randolph county crowd.

Because the decisions will be made over the next six months - by May it will probably be a done deal. While we don't have any say in it, we do have preferences about which teams would make good conference members. It's no different than us coming on here talking about our team beating another team; we don't have anything to do with what happens on the field, but that never stopped any of us.

Should be interesting who'll win the 2A division

Ok. I thought it happened much closer to that actual school year, like the winter of 2016. Kinda wish reshuffling wouldn't happen so frequently. Conference rivalries don't really have time to cement themselves anymore. We started to have a nice rivalry with Kinston during the last period, and then just like that, it ended. We never had anything to do with Washington before, but now we are starting to have a nice little beef going on with them. But, it's possible that that will go by the wayside too. I think every 5 or maybe even 6 years is better.

While I understand the point about conference rivalries, there are those who believe that realignments should occur every two years because ADMs change so radically in some communities. It would probably never be 5 as most non-conference games are contracted for a two year deal - home and away.

Fans of Reidsville were hoping that county teams would fall to 2A. At least 1 but looks like it's not happening. Still gotta schedule them non conference.

Wallace Rose hill ,James kenan moving up to 2A,and south point moving down will make 2A a whole lot more competitive,But it's really gonna hurt 1A with those two moving up

I can't say I like this at all for Conference 41 & 42. Maiden and Bandys and Newton being split apart is a horrible idea...I'm shaking my head right now.
I fully expect Fred T Foard to enter the conference. I am very fortunate in that I can be at seven high schools in 17 minutes or less. Only problem is would I want to be at any with such a weak conference? I refuse to attend games when the blowout is coming. That non conference schedule at Newton this year was horrible. Three of four teams went 1-27. Only Asheville was over 500. This proposed conference is glaringly bad. You take Maiden, East Lincoln, and Lincolnton out and it becomes a bunch of bad Catawba County schools and a good Hibriten.

We can only hope it doesn't turn into that. Weaker teams get higher seeds for playoffs and good teams have to play away first round. Not that it shouldn't matter but having a conference comprised of mostly weaker teams means that a better team somewhere gets left out of the playoffs.

I guess we've been spoiled in the SD-7 with good competition.

I hope they put East Duplin back in the conference with WRH and JK. When I was at ED,
JK, WRH, Clinton, and ED were all in the same conference.

I never post on here. I just normally read. I was really hoping North Lincoln would replace West Caldwell in the SD7 and we would have the 4 Catawba County Schools with the 4 Lincoln County Schools. Then I saw Fred T Foard dropping to 2A so thought that might be added. I see that probably won't happen. However, Please don't seperate Maiden from Bandys and Newton-Conover. I know Bandys and N-C struggled in Football but those are big rivalries even in other sports. That makes no sense considering Maiden is so close.

I doubt that any decision by the NCHSAA would split up Maiden, Bandys, and Newton-Conover. Where you see proposed conferences, they are from a single individual or an independent group, not the NCHSAA.

I agree completely, GoN'. My personal preference is to have a conference that is a little more spread out. I like rivalries, but healthy ones. The saying "familiarity breeds contempt" seems especially true in our area.

OOOHHHH...Thank you for clearing that up. I thought this was the proposal the NCHSAA had. I definitely want Maiden in our conference even though I am a Bandys fan.

Just my opinion but I am with Sasha. I think the Lincoln County schools are going to join the Gaston County 2A teams. I also feel the Catawba County teams will remain together. I don't like it. The Catawba County teams have slipped in the last four years overall.

Maiden
Bandys
Bunker Hill
Newton-Conover
Fred T Foard
Hibriten
West Iredell

This looks more like a new conference. If you look at current talent only Maiden and Hibriten seem like top contenders in football. If this occurs a lot of teams records will drastically improve but the playoff success will fall.

South Point
East Lincoln
Lincolnton
Shelby
North Lincoln
West Lincoln
Lake Norman Charter
East Gaston

This becomes a dangerous conference for state title contention in both subdivisions. Friday nights would be special.
