Thoughts on west side expansion?

The west side reno looked amazing. Felt like a totally different place under the stands. The NEZ expansion makes the stadium look completely different from the inside.

Nothing but good things to say. I got a mixer drink and took a piss in 5 minutes. Can't ask for much more. Long overdue.

I agree on this. The NEZ makes the whole place look legit D1. Very impressed and I can't help but think it will be crazy loud when finished. Get it done and then build a new M Club with lower bleachers and the place will be set.

One question for the contractors though. How much concrete was poured on the floor? The ramps to the portals started at a much higher elevation. Seems like the floors were a good 3-4' higher than they were before.

Probably 6 inches if that. Usually to change elevation, you frame up fill with dirt and top with concrete.

They moved A LOT of dirt under there. The elevation change of the old grade was at least 4 feet across the whole west concourse. That's evident with the stairs they put in front of the new entrance (which was VERY nice, btw). Overall, I was very impressed with the changes. Walking behind the west side was really awesome.

Are they planning on closing in the new elevator column? From inside the stadium, it looks VERY bland... just a tall white wall. Anyone know the plans for that?

I sit on the east side and of course, there were not changes to the concourse there. But inside, the north end zone looks fantastic. It's much taller than I had in mind. It's really going to be a first class facility when finished.

Don't know if we can fill it or not for all our games, but next step should be to close in the south end zone as much as possible. I suspect moving the big video board is out of the question so they'll have to work around it when the day comes.

It's awesome. Raising the floor with steps up to the new elevation was a great idea. More tvs are in the concourse and new signage. New and more concessions. They got one over on me with the mugshots concession area. I thought it was going to be a full size Mugshot burger. Moving the gates back toward the Junction was a good idea too. Weither it was just an illusion or whatever, it seemed to allow people to move more orderly from the gate to the seats. No one blocking the way looking for kids, spouses, or whatever going into the concourse.

Only negativity I have is I'm a smoker (don't judge) but during our games I usually need 4-6 cigs but my seats are on the north end of the west side and I have to walk to the southwest entrance just to smoke now. Other that that it's great. Maybe I can quit smoking now but being a state fan I highly doubt it.

Looked great. Totally different place. Also, cups had no smell and Carolina Pride dogs were better (still not a juicy jumbo, though). Interested to see what the West 100 level looks like next year. No real changes there this year. The crew working the concession stand seemed pretty green, and had trouble with flow. They didn't askif I wanted cheese with my nachos and handed me an unsalted pretzel without asking if I wanted salt. Also, I want cheese with my pretzel...or, at least mustard. Don't just hand it to me in a piece of wax paper which won't accommodate any kind of dipping sauce. Gimme a plastic tray with my pretzel for the sauce. Overall, much better. But, if anybody in the AD has their ears on this post, please take it as constructive criticism. Going in the right direction, but let's get that last 10% right.

I agree. Didn't realize they elevated the floor. Whatever they did - the whole concourse seemed to have more room. Had less of a climb getting to the stands. Restrooms were great - uncrowded and safe for the knees down. There were some good concession options, Mugshots and otherwise. Everything they did was a huge improvement.

Tell me about the Mugshot thing. Was stoked to hear they were down there, but didn't get a chance to make it by. Figured it was some abbreviated version. Was it worth the dineros? What's the verdict?

The bread has the same taste as mugshots so its made by, I guess, whoever makes it for Mugshots. It is the run of the mill size hamburger bun. The meat is just a regular size burger and nothing special.

I purposely pissed

In the awkward corner urinal with other urinalelers on each side and it wasn't awkward at all.

Looked good to me. Didn't see any real long lines at concessions, restrooms looked good with plenty of accommodations. I also like that the ramps coming out from the portals feed in both directions, lessens congestion leaving the stadium.
