Summary for those of us who don't register for Bama sites?
Does it matter who the guy is? Good lord people, stop policing ourselves. Why must we throw every possible lead out in the open?
Do you think during Camgate that Auburn people were posting the names of all possible involved people? Hell no. They supported their own school.
But here at Moo U, we can't stand success. We turn in our own. We raise red flags at anybody that might need to be looked at.
Its no wonder that beat writers read SPS. You folks are taking all the work out of being a reporter. Or an NCAA investigator.
GET A DAMN CLUE!!!

Why do some of yall get so protective and sensitive over this guy? The diffenrence b/t Auburn and us is they got away.
I could care less who the guy is but I am interested in the details. If he allegedly did something dumb that hurt MSU, I absolutely want to know who he is. I also dont agree with the "policing ourselves" stance. You do realize that the NCAA and MSU are DONE with the investigation and the outcome has absolutely nothing to do with if his name is out there or not. Policing would be if we turned him in while committing violations. Putting the pieces together after the fact is not even close to policing.
One reason they got away is because they don't prosecute their own people on message boards.
Yeah, it is. You, sir, are part of the problem.
What do you mean prosecute on mb's Flab? The investigation is over and been over. Why does it matter? This didnt start on a mb, so I fail to see your rationale
I agree. I dont even know who this person is they are saying, whether it is a 7 on 7 guy, booster or what, but the NCAA isnt going to ramp up a investigation due to a message board post on a Alabama board, 7 months down the road.
I mean throw names around and discuss who might have done what.
What if...the name being thrown out ISN'T the guy who got investigated. What if that gets around and it gives the NCAA something else to snoop at.
You don't know the investigation is over. And even if it us, it could re-open with something else that we just threw out there.
Don't play with fire when you don't know where all the gasoline is.
Even if the name is correct, why burn bridges.
SMH.

Flab isn't protecting an individual. Just fighting a losing battle to prevent our own fanbase from implicating our beloved school.
Yeah, I usually leave loaded pistols out around my kids because I am pretty sure they don't know how to shoot.
Auburn got the memo "ALL IN" - their fans don't implicate themselves or even try to. Some of our fans are by gawd determined to make smoke when there's no fire.

Exactly, and it is not like the NCAA has the time or the resources to chase down every message board rumor and inuendo that comes up.
a bit too seriously and that some of the others who post this stuff are taking it a bit too lightly. Like most things, it is probably somewhere in the middle.
Do you know of any NCAA investigations that stemmed solely from the ramblings on message boards? Did they amount to much?

Couldn't agree more. We have some of the dumbest 17s for fans I've ever seen. In the hypothetical case that if a booster ever commited an NCAA violation I damn sure don't want to know about it. And I especially don't want anyone to tell me on a public message board.
Or maybe flab is just trying to protect a buddy....I just think there's alot to this story thats gonna change the way MSU deals with the media, specifically internet sites. The incident itself is going to be more of a black eye than a real issue. But internally I think you'll see less and less access to our players, coaches, recruiting lists and practices....
But why fan the flames of something they either already suspected or had all but stamped out.
Pat, your point is taken but you cant discredit the other side of the argument. Boosters committing violations isnt the issue at heart (i dont think). I think people are curious about details (such as the nature of the alleged violation) because of the timing. MSU is seeming to be building a program in the right direction and NCAA snooping/sanctions is the last thing any of us wanted to hear. When you add in that certain folks have painted a booster rumored to be disassociated as a rogue internet cowboy it adds to the equation. I don think anyone can deny there is a price to play the game but most rationale fans (my self included) would be a little pissed if program momentum took a hit b/c of haphazard, irresponsible actions by 1 guy
Rarely is there ever more irony in a message board post. This takes the cake.
