Davon Booth getting an extra year of eligibility was like Mississippi State plucking a four star transfer out of the portal. Will Booth make his final season one to remember? Brian Hadad and Robbie Faulk discuss why the dynamic Bulldog running back could be one of the most underrated players in the SEC.

I’d say better than average at least

He rushed for 759 yards and almost 5 yards a carry which is good.

Six carries for 12 yards against Toledo though…
Interesting game log last year. First 6 games were awful, then games 7-11 were very good. Followed by awful in Egg Bowl. But point taken. He’s better than average.

Gotta be honest… I don’t think I can recall a time when a State player that finished 91st in rushing and that really isn’t much of a pass catching threat has been pumped as much as Booth

Wondering if anybody else thought the same. Nothing against him, he's a good RB and glad he's back but you wonder if being one of the few bright spots in the darkest of dark season doesn't have something to do with it.
Surprised Johnnie Daniels doesn't get at least a little more recognition. He's my favorite RB.

Am kinda concerned about the matchup in Hattiesburg. Surely we will “out muscle” them, right? God help us if we don’t.

And I’m at 3.

The question for me is who has a better chance of winning— Southern Miss at Hattiesburg in the first game of the season or Northern Illinois at Starkville?
I honestly don't think either of those can beat us. NIU lost a lot from last year's team.

i swear most of you are the biggest P Ussies i have ever seen. Miserable bitches at least wait for the season to start whining.
I get what you mean but you have to admit it’s kind of expected since 2025 is the Summer of Pre-$hitting…

I’ll cut him some slack, he was a G5 transfer playing behind a bad OL and it took him some time to get going. He did play like a legit SEC RB down the stretch, which is frankly all you can ask for from a guy we got from Utah State in the late portal window last year (after spring ball).

Maybe our other transfer failures make him look better by comparison…. But I view him as a good RB. Not great, but good. We’ve definitely had worse starting RB’s.

This is gonna sound absurd, but Booth was a beast in CFB 25. I wonder if people got wooly because of that. I think the OL gelling showed what he can do between week 7-11. OM just had NFL level Run defense last year.

We could pull up a hundred posts just like this one from two years ago about Lemonis. Or 10 years ago about Rick Ray. Or 20 years ago about Croom.

We all know what we’ve got with our football program. Some just haven’t accepted it yet

If 15 years ago, I would have told that we would have to concern ourselves with NIU's returning roster...
20 years ago you would have known we would lose to them cause we were way worse offensively. We could not complete a pass against air that year. I witness bad QB play after bad QB play and the worst inept offense ever been assembled and that lasted for years.

States' defense was respectable those years but our offense? We lost 3-2 to Auburn and it wasn't that close.

4th qtr minutes to go down 1. 1st and 10 on Auburn's side after a turnover, only needing a field goal and the guy next to me said, it won't matter. I said, we only need one first down. 4 plays later, State was punting from their own side of the field inside their own 40.

I was not at the 6-3 win over the Bear in 80 or was it 81, but I was at the 3-2 loss vs Auburn and it stung.
