My request to add a third ticket in my section with my group was denied by MSU ticketing yesterday. However, I was told that instead of the third ticket I could buy a "hot dog ticket" for my child that is three or under and he could sit with us. This ticket costs $150. I've never heard of this and wasn't available last year to my knowledge. Anyone using this/heard of this?

We have taken all three of our kids to every game that my wife and I have gone to (usually 4-5 home games per year on average for past 15 years). Our oldest is 10 and when we started with her, she didn't need a ticket to get in and we did the whole lap seat thing.....not good.....nobody has a good time. Eventually you end up trying to squeeze them in on a row where they really don't have a seat and it just pisses everybody off. By the time #2 kid came along, we got seats for everybody. Club level is the perfect scenario for those with kids because they have individual seats and/or they can go sit inside when they get tired of watching the game or when you get sick of them.....whichever comes first.

is that the recent policy change which requires ALL children to have a ticket didn't have anything to do with fan safety or comfort. It was just so that it could create an opportunity to sell yet another ticket.
I have to admit though... Before actually reading through the initial post, I thought it was saying something along the lines of MSU offering him some free gameday weiners since they couldn't fill his ticket request which was pretty funny.

Now, this may have been one of those policies where it had always been in place, but never really enforced. Whatever the case, I remember Byrne making it very clear during that particular season that all people, regardless of age, would require a ticket in order to enter future games. There were tons of people griping about it at the time so apparently quite a few had gotten away with it prior to that.
His seat isn't anywhere near ours. But, we had to sign him up for season tickets so that in a few years, he'll be able to get a seat next to us.
is not for the upper deck. It's west side. I was offered 3 upper deck tickets together if I didn't want to Hot Dog it. It is a cheaper option since I wouldn't have to buy a third real seat. I wish I had this option last year as I had to buy/scramble a ticket each game for a year-old.
