Mariners can't bunt. Should have ended a long time ago.
It’s malpractice at this point. No reason for guys at that level to not be able to get a bunt down. It’s something that gets ignored all year and then when you have to score a run in the biggest game of the year you can’t do the most basic fundamental thing in baseball. Like an elite football team having a kicker that can’t kick an extra point in the playoffs.

As I typed that, Arozarena gets beaned, so the first 2 are on with no outs. Cal Raleigh up to bat.

Raleigh flies out, but advances the runner.

1 out. Runners on first and 3rd.

Scratch that. They walk to load the bases.

There aren’t a ton of runners that could have safely advanced on that ball, but Crawford is one of the ones that can.
Funny how advancing runners like that led to them winning. I get the new school way of thinking but that was basically the same thing that a bunt does and they ended up scoring. It opens up so much when you have a guy on 3rd with less than 2 outs. The holes you have to hit it through widen and all you need is a routine fly ball to win the game. They were very fortunate to get 4 chances to do that.

I gave up on it after 11, but not bunting to set up a runner at 3rd with one out situation in that type of game was ridiculous.
