you ain't gonna make it in the broadcasting business. Nervous, fidgety, scripted responses, and goofy smiling FL cheerleaders in the background (that part not his fault). A stiff drink would do him a LOT of good. Follow Brent's lead...have a drink! Seriously, I was pulling for him, but he's just turribul.

A lot of the greats started off terribly. John Madden and Dandy Don come to mind (although they were commentators, not anchors). I'm not going to judge him until he's had a few months to get used to and learn the job.

This. We have the benefit of screwing up in our jobs in front of our boss and a few co-workers. When he stumbles over his words, a million people are watching.

Give him time. He'll be ok.

I greatly admire Tim Tebow as an athlete and as a person. What he portrays himself to be is who he is and, as unusual as it is today, he is true to his faith and beliefs. That said however, I totally agree that he has a LONG ways to go as a broadcasting personality. Doesn't appear comfortable in the job at all but I'm willing to give a little time to settle into things before writing him off totally.

He was just turrible. However, I'd rather listen to him than McElroy. Tebow is trying but just sucks, McElroy is trying way to 17ing hard and sounds like the biggest douchebag I've ever heard.

I thought Greg did a pretty good job. Not just because he picked MSU having the advantage over Ole Miss. He was surprisingly pretty good on screen. Tebow will get better as time goes on. Glad they are both on the network.

Agree on McElroy. Thought he was good.

I thought he came off as pretty polished and did a good job, especially for his first time. The story he told about Saban dressing down the team in the locker room immediately after winning the 2009 national championship because they let Texas come back in the second half was pretty funny. Both Tebow and McElroy will get better with time.

I will withhold judgement until a couple a weeks into the season. Right now they're reading scripts and worried about which camera to look at. Once the season begins they will have something to talk about and can talk off the cuff about what they know. Football. McElroy was always solid on Finebaum when talking about games and teams during the season.

Uh, he should probably start by losing that V card.

Probably would if he were straight. That's right, I've said it before, and I'm saying it again. Tebow doesn't like girls. He'll marry one that's far less attractive than what a guy in his shoes should normally fetch, but he'll be seeing guys on the side.

On the broadcasting thing, I definitely think he's going to suck. He doesn't have a lot of personality, and he doesn't seem to be too comfortable in front of a camera.

Yep, because you cant lose your virginity when you have a case of the gays.**

As for his sexual orientation, I have no idea, just like you. How attractive a woman he may one day marry is in no way a tell for his orientation.

You seem to know a lot about closeted homosexuality.

ETA: I see you are also an expert on sucking.

Surely you realize that it's possible for someone to have real, strong religious convictions about sex (whether you, me, or anyone else agrees with them or not) don't you? It's a pretty huge leap from seeing Tebow's actions in public to saying you think he's gay. In fact, it's ridiculous.

I do agree that his personality is pretty dull, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, and he's not really suited to be a TV commentator.

He definitely stumbled on that segment, but overall he did a good job. He tried to hard, but thats because he is new. He will settle it down somewhat over time.

Yep, and every one of them that I've known, if they had any kind of options, got married by the time they were 25, most by the time they were 22, because they couldn't wait any longer.

And at the very least, they dated during the process while still waiting.

Show me any girl he's been linked to romantically, so much as holding hands at a restaurant. I don't think that's ever happened, and he's 27.

There were some drop dead gorgeous girls that were regular attendees of Campus Crusade when I was in school. Tebow could have his pick of that crew, and they could've done all the not sexing together that they wanted, yet he doesn't even consider starting a relationship.

Usually, even if you're saving yourself, you date and try to find someone who you might keep around for companionship. You can still wear your purity rings or whatever and be dating.

Just saying, the lack of any of that tends to raise some red flags. It's not just "saving yourself". I've seen plenty of people do that, but they don't completely exclude themselves from the dating pool, unless they just don't have options. Tebow doesn't have that problem.

As an aside, this is one of the reasons that you've seen so many gay men in the priesthood in Catholicism. If they weren't interested in girls at all, the easiest way to hide or protect that excuse has always been to pursue priesthood. That way no one questions them about their lack of dating life....and their real dating life just stays hidden.

I think it's pretty crazy that you think you get to "draw the line" in what's appropriate in dating terms for someone else and what isn't.

Can the man just be what he preaches for a little while -- without people making outlandish assumptions about inner hypocrisy -- likely related to their own reflections? For all the grief he's caught over his beliefs -- he's never to my knowledge done anything that's hurt his ministry or shown him to be anything other than what he professes to be 24/7 -- in a world where people of his status and especially with his public professions of faith WOULD NOT be able to hide or keep it secret because the whole world is looking to drop him a few notches on the totem pole to passively feel better about themselves.

So, given everything that we KNOW about him, as one of, if not, the most scrutinized sports figures in recent memory -- and a still-sparkling reputation while under that microscope for the better part of a decade -- you just make up your own conclusions about his sexuality? Really?

He's not gay. I 'dated', it was very brief, a girl who went on several dates with him. She is a semi-celebrity in south ms and his family and her family met at some social events and they hit it off. I have no idea how close they got but gay is something he isn't. Terrible analyst? Yes. Homosexual? No.

Will all due respect, occasionally the internet produces something so unequivocally dumb that people of all nations, races, religions, and creeds can unite under the umbrella of its stupidity, briefly find common ground, and point and laugh. I think this qualifies nicely.

Alas, given your Tebow obsession, I am probably not your type (I'm weaker but smarter). And yet you (you are a dude, right?) are not Tim's type. Tough scene for you, man. But good luck with your love life.

He's had this issue for years. He thinks he's a lot more than he is. He won a BCS as the QB. But that team had Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Julio Jones, Javier Arenas, Rolando McClain, Mount Cody and a whole lot more. It wasn't like he was really much of a key, and by that I mean there were probably literally dozens of quarterbacks who could have handed off to Ingram or thrown one in the general direction of Julio and won games. The next year when they weren't as good, he tried to put himself out there as the face and spokesman of the team, and from all appearances people just rolled their eyes at him including his teammates as the proceeded to lose two more. He's just always struck me as that guy...the one who isn't really the best but the combination of privilege (father working for the Cowboys) and just enough ability put him in the spotlight.

I am not a fan. Hope he gets fired. Spears too.

So anyway, back to my original point (before we got off on the cock gobbling tangent, "not that there's anything wrong with that") Timmy should spend today looking at film and try to get better. My guess is he will improve the more he's on camera, but for Gods sake, get a size bigger sport coat. We're not interested in your guns and pecs. Just talk insightful football...you've been there and done it, so tell us about it.
