That's where pike should have had a stud backup to come in and replace cliff... No back up at all at the 5 position...pathetic
Couldn’t get one. Not the cache it has now. Hopefully it sticks going forward. Took some time.

Anyone trying to get rid of cliff and paul is just stupid. You can’t replace leadership. Mulcahy is still a valuable piece. Some matchups are just better than others for him.

Cliff may go for some pro money or g league coaching if there is a chance he can get signed. I think he comes back. For one last ride.

The Hofstra kid was unconscious. That’s a damn good team they lost too and claxton is a hell of a coach on the rise.

Next years lineup should* look like this

2023-4 Scarlet Knights

Simpson
Spencer
Griffiths
Transfer 4 (can’t count on Mag being back til January at best)
Cliff

Mulcahy
Wolf
Chol
Baye Ndongo
JaMichael Davis
Mag
Transfer guard/Delquan Warren reclassifies
Transfer/Late Recruit/Palmquist

Hyatt, Miller, Rieber, Palmquist transfer

*Hope we get a transfer 4 and don’t play Mulcahy at the 3 and Griffiths at the 4.

I do watch the games. I respect your opinion but disagree. I believe Cliff needs to stay. It would be catastrophic if he left. Imo.

I think you’re both right. He’s absolutely right about cliffs short-comings but if he doesn’t see the huge fall-off when cliff leaves the court then he’s just blind or an idiot.

Cliff certainly needs to improve several aspects of his game but he is critical - good luck to pike finding a transfer that could fill in if clifff leaves (since that is what it would take as no one on the current roster has that potential… like wolf but he’s never gonna be cliff)

The backup 5 minutes this year overall were horrible. Yes Wolf flashed but overall it was really bad every single time Cliff stepped off the court

People are conflating their expectations of what Cliff could be if he was more skilled with Cliff not being an asset to the team

Don’t see how losing Cliff or Paul is a net positive. Also don’t see how either is irreplaceable.

THIS!
Every time Cliff went to the bench in the last couple weeks, the other team made a run. Not a coincidence!
He has work to do on offense for sure, but he will be hard to replace.

the team has become stale. Some guys need to move on and a new collective identity needs to form. I’m sorry for how this will sound, because it involves young men who work their butt off and are great representatives of our school

Hyatt needs to move on. He will have less of a role on this team next year. And he had the James townshend moment of the year against Minnesota. Hard to come back from that.

Paul needs to move on too.

Cliff hasn’t improved on the offensive side of the ball. He’s good on the defensive side. I would like for him to stay but he can’t be fed the ball in the post. He has no moves or touch. Maybe going pro is the best move for his game.

Oscar needs to move on too but I would be happy if he stayed. He can shoot. He might not get a ton of minutes next year though

Dean needs to move on. There will be no minutes for him

Miller needs to move on. There will be no minutes for him

Let this team be led by Gavin, cam, wolf, mag, Oscar, and derek next year and bring in some portal players and promise them competition for minutes. We have the PG and PF to add to the group next year too

Cliff went backwards big time this season…as did Caleb, Mulcahy, Hyatt and Reiber.
I think we are seeing the importance of having guys like Geo and Harper who actually had some semblance of an offensive game. Mulcahey, McConnell, and Spencer were never going to be able to fill that hole. Simpson looks like he could be going forward.

Cliff brings great effort every game, offensive results aren't always there but would be extremely difficult to replace him. If Wolf is playing 30 minutes next season we are in trouble.

Wolf can play 30 minutes a game next year
way too optimistic

With an offseason of hard work, Wolf can be a plus backup for 12 minutes a game next year and more when Cliff in foul trouble. That would give us more than enough at the 5

Hopefully Wolf could take the next step in 2 years...
