All teams have 7 games under their belts now and in the "Far East" of the 1A East Region there are a bunch of mediocre to bad teams. Sussex is the king with Franklin the prince. Colonial Beach looks to be #3 and I suppose Essex is 4. From what I've viewed, football out this way in 1A is well below average. I'd only put my money on Sussex and maybe Franklin for a deep post-season run.

I've been saying that for years. Other than a few, football in 1A east has been horrible - extremely top heavy with seeds 5-16 mostly awful.
It all starts with coaching and the coaches in the east are not good. You go east of Richmond, there are 0 good coaches. You can argue for Fulks but he has been loaded with talent for years. His teams are always undisciplined.
Potential teams to reach the championship, my opinion:
East: Riverheads, Sussex Central, Altavista, Franklin, Central Lunenburg
West: Galax, George Wythe, Hurley, Parry McClure

Should have said there are very few good coaches east of Richmond, that I could have agreed with. I think the coach from colonial beach does a hell of a job, Sussex, Franklin as well.
