This should have been done last year. There is no time to waste, year-after-year, waiting to see if the play-makers emerge on our roster. Bring in some studs NOW.

Why do so many think jucos are the answer? It is like this is an instant quick fix.

Because Bill Snyder was able to land a couple of dynamo players from JUCO, everyone thinks that they are the panacea for a program. What is forgotten is that at the time Snyder was doing that as his edge. Fast forward and now every staff in the country keeps an eye on JUCOs. Also, folks tend to remember that one success story over the 10 guys from JUCO that didn't work out. For every success story like Zac Taylor there are a dozen guys who never contributed in a meaningful way.

Next year will be the measuring stick for me as far as MR is concerned. He will have his QB and a lot of RS players ready to go. After that he should be able to fill in the weak spots (DL) with JUCO's. This team will more closely resemble the MR vision.

the best JC player I've ever cut up on tape was nailed for 6 armed bank robberies 3 years after he was done playing Pac 10 football...I worked w JC kids a long time, and half of them were ballers but team cancers as well.-sg

If we really want to get back to the glory days we need a coach willing to play criminals, tamper with evidence, and turn the cheek to steroid usage!
Then we would be unstoppable again!!!

Because they are like free agents...they can instantly fill holes....why would we want a guy on the team for 4 years that should be playing FCS ball...that's even more damaging.

Nothing wrong with looking for a player or 2....is not unreasonable.

Just cause you recruit someone doesn't mean you will get the chance to coach them if you are fired for lack of improvement....no not Riley.

So you mean, do what the rest of college football is doing. I agree.

The "Nebraska guy"...aka John Parrella apparently doesn't think JUCOs are the answer either. He went after one or two, but Van Ginkel was probably the only one I can think of we made a serious run at. I think the other one was a DT with a knee injury.

I'd be open to a DT if one is out there, available, and interested. DE too. JUCOs can be great but it is a total crap shoot.
