I've said all along this year this is Tommy's team, he will lead us to wins and losses.

One thing needs to be discussed is what Jerry DiNardo said last August about a Nebraska football practice, If I remember correctly he said their practice looked like a Pac 12 practice meaning it wasn't very physical. Some questioned what he seen and disregarded it or didn't think to much about it, well it bothered me and it bothers me Defensive coord Mark Banker spoke to players and assistants about how Iowa's steady physical style of play told reporters "I bet their practices are like a blood bath".

If we are going to win this division and more importantly win the B1G conference and be a top 10 program we need to start playing much more physical year round.

Our biggest weakness this year from what I seen is our O-Line and our defensive ends who are not just good enough pressuring the passer... I know we have a young line and potential red shirts but we have to improve on both sides of the line...

Looking forward to seeing a new QB that fits this system hoping Tanner Lee is as good as advertised.Been along 8 years with Taylor Martinez and Tommy Armstrong they broke many of records and won some Bowl games but didn't lead us to a conference title.

It feels like we are no better off than what we were 2 years ago hopefully a Bowl win will change my out look.
Why would this look any different than 2 years ago? You do realize who was the QB in 2014 right?

we need some unpleasant people from unpleasant places on the defense. not criminals, just guys that at least know some criminals.
now that made me laugh BUT Bo not only had a few criminals on his team he had em on his staff and that didn't work either. Trust me EVERY kid that plays D-1 football knows a criminal or two. Heck I had 2 guys that did jail time for murder in my sunday school class....

Our linebackers are tiny and you want to insert them into defense end against teams trying to run down our throat when everyone thinks we are soft? I understand what you're say and what we did in the 90's but we have multiple issues right now and moving people around won't fix that we have no speed in the defensive back field. And putting Bando at DE would just result in teams racking up 400 yards on the ground. It sucks but sometimes the answer is that we just don't have the right players. Period. I hate. You hate it. We all hate it. But there simply aren't enough good players wearing an "N" on their helmet to stand up to a 9 game big ten schedule.
I think pelini was trying out a few linebackers like newby as pass rush specialist, kind of what Ohio state does on passing downs, but we can cover up our lack of speed on the back 7 with a better pass rush, that was our problem in the 70's and 80's our secondary and linebackers were built to stop the run and when went up against the speed of the Florida schools they made us look silly. The status quo has got to stop and try something different, like I said addition by subtraction, most of our starters would probably not be three string on the rosters of the top 5 programs in the country with the exception of Gerry. A lot of teams find a spot for their better players and playing Lamar Jackson for a couple of games was just stupid.

I don't see anything much different from Frank Solich's last team in 2003. Hopefully the players redshirting and the players being recruited can step up and play with a passion that has been missing since Coach Osborne. I'm trying to find some solace in our 9 & 3 season. GBR!!
Good comparison.. I've thought the same thing.. Solich was running out of Osborne's talent, that was obvious. The next few coaches have had some talent, but we haven't had that killer instinct on all sides of the ball since 97'

This thread is awesome. Started by the guy who still brings up Solich constantly.

But yea "time to move forward"

As long as we still get to whine about 15 years ago that is...

Out there in the spotlight, you really are a million miles away. Every ounce of energy you try to give away, as the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play.

Later in the evening, as you lie awake in bed with the echoes from the amplifiers ringing in your head, you smoke the day's last cigarette remembering what she said.

Here I am, on the road again.
There I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing a star again.
There I go, turn the page.
