I have been a MSU fan 40 plus years and have seen every up and down during those times. We have experienced success a few times and there has been excitement during those years. But I have NEVER in all those years seen this university at the level it has reached now. We are not only winning in football, but we have a very united group of people at the highest levels of the university. We have really never had everyone on the same page at the same time.That day is here.I am convinced that MSU has indeed become the people's university. Our president is on board, we have a super human being in Coach Mullen (he has done some things off the field that are awesome and he will not ever get credit for....and he doesn't want credit for it!), and we have fans jumping on board like never before. The atmosphere has become electric on gameday and when Davis Wade has the North End Zone taken it, our stadium will be simply awesome looking. Just take a look at the architect renderings. It will look awesome with the brick facade and the huge Jumbotron already in place. MSU is already an awesome place to get an education and has a very diverse student body. All this excitement has the Bulldog Club membership growing by leaps and bounds. The Junction is awesome and growing as well. On top of all that we have a beautiful campus that is becoming second to none. I just hope you will consider all this when making your choice. All university's have their sales pitch. Some are national powers and tout that...and should. Some are stagnant and try to put on a different face to a recruit. Some are on the rise. It is up to the student athlete to determine which is the more genuine place. Without doubt (and I admit, with unobjectivity on my part) MSU is going to become a football power in the SEC. It will reach heights it has never reached because of what the leadership has established. Coach Mullen will be here at least a few more years but even IFhis success takes him somewhere else (he may be a Bulldog for life!) MSU will be able to bring a proven winner into its football program to continue what has begun now. I totally believe that for the first time in forty years. Things are different at MSU now in a very positive way. I hope you will become a part of it. If you do you will look back on it someday and have quite a smile on your face! Good luck wherever you go.

^^^agree^^^ It's funny how this simple truth get lost through all the ra-ra recruiting battles. Our recruits that committed realize that through all the talk, MSU is building something. We are the better school. I don't understand why we equate ourselves to TSUN. By discussing what they are doing just give strength to their cause. I will not waste anytime re-hashing the whipping(s) we placed on that school anymore. We are going to build higher and higher and not look back. The recruits that are caught in the middle need to look back at the two schools and see which one they would like to play for. Mullen is building something. Choose whatever you want, MSU is going to win.

We are entering a stretch of prosperity unlike anything any school in Mississippi has seen in most of your lifetimes. The school president, athletic director coaching staff, donors, fans, and players are all on the same page with unbridled enthusiasm.
The last piece of the puzzle is bringing in a few recruits who are real difference makers. That's it. Take Cam Newton for example. Nobody came closer to beating the #1 team this year than MSU did. The difference was obviously Cam Newton.
So we need just a few key guys each recruiting class and we're there. CJ Johnson coming here would compete for a national championship. At Ole Miss, he'd only be competing to help Houston Nutt stay employed.

Forgive me for laughing but I would laugh at our own fans for saying **** like that. For either of us to have a shot at the title it would take a once in a lifetime aligning of the stars, but keep the dream alive.
And you guys say our fans are delusional.
Nice 1 game sample for comparison too. We beat an eventual national champion and we weren't any closer to a national title ourselves.
ETA: You are wrong by the way too. Clemson took Auburn to OT at their place. Bama had Auburn down 24 before they lost by 1. I would say those 2 were closer to beating Auburn than you were.
Auburn needed a once in a lifetime player and about 7 close games to go their way to even have a shot at the title.

but your point is 100% correct. The stars would really have to be aligned but I`ve never seen a NC won that the champ didn`t have to have some luck along the way to get it done.
But two first round picks with one being the 1st overall pick isn't too far off far a heisman campaign. Snead on the other hand was.
But it's not. It's a popularity contest. And what makes it delusional if for any Ole Miss fan to think they are part of the 'In-Crowd' that will ever have a player get a Heisman Trophy. If Peyton didn't get a Heisman do you really think that Eli ever would?

Sure, I pop over to NAFOOM when something bad is happening at Ole Miss and take some pot shots from the peanut gallery, so I can see how that can be fun. It was a lot. Over and over they discussed the fact that had we gotten Cam we had a real shot at being in that game. Some title teams are dominant. USC in 04, Texas 05, Florida 08, Miami 01 were that type of dominant. Very few teams even gave those teams a tough fight. Still those programs had many other almost as good teams fall short of a title, Florida 09, USC 05, Miami 02 as examples.
It takes having a great team and some luck and in some cases it just takes a **** ton of luck. I don't see any Mississippi school accumulating the talent necessary to be that dominant so we would both have to fall into the **** ton of luck category. I'm pretty confident I will die before either OM or MSU win a national title and I'm planning on sticking around this world another 60 yrs or so.

If it happens enjoy the fact that the stars aligned. If you have your hopes really up that it is definitely going to happen be prepared to be disappointed.
