To Play or Not To Play?

Perhaps Sellers should sit this one out (Mizzou).
Zero points scored in the second half against Vanderbilt ?
Perhaps it is time to find out what kind of character this team
has (without Sellers).

The contact that sidelined him last week looked minor compared to most hits. However he may have already had an issue that we didn’t know about. So, if he does play he best not run the ball or he may find himself out the rest of the season. I personally think it’s a risk to put him out there so soon.

The more times he don’t play the greater chance he plays college ball next year. Will it be with us?

Nope. I predict Oklahoma, the mecca for transfer QBs: Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, now Heisman candidate John Mateer. Sellers could go replace Mateer in 2026, win a Heisman and go #1

Just an observation. If Sellers is "All in" for this team, he will play. If not (IMO) he doesnt want to jeopardize his Future draft. It will tell me a lot about his dedication. NOW having said that, if Beamer decides to not let him play, that is another issue!

I'll be surprised if he plays. Beamer would catch all kinds of hell if he played him and he got knocked out of the game and was seriously hurt.

Doty may have his positives but ''he knows the offense'' doesn't qualify as a winner if the ''offense'' is pedestrian.
Our offense needs a spark plug and Doty doesn't fit that bill if LS can't go.
Somebody needs to think outside the box for a solution to our offensive struggles.

An ESPN report from Pete Thamel says Sellers is practicing and USC is optimistic that he'll be good to go Saturday.

This is today. I'm optimistic that he plays.

Ah, okay. There was one from a day or two ago that said something similar. He was at practice, it was good news, but nothing official.

This is better news because its Thursday. Gives me better feelings that he plays Saturday.

He definitely needs to play next year. He's still got a lot of things to learn before transitioning to the NFL. Needs to be better with accuracy and consistency, pocket presence, progression reads, touch and ball placement, and overall decision making. He's still too raw to be an effective NFL QB.

When this went around earlier, I thought it was determined it was a two year deal? So 4 million a year would put him just a little above what he was supposed to be making here.

Yes, $ 4 million got the headlines, but the reports never mentioned what we paying, we were obviously paying him enough to keep him here, if difference is minimal again, I don't see him jumping in the future.

Take any NIL number with a grain of salt, but when I saw the report, it was said we were paying something like 3.7 or 3.8 million. So the 4 million would be a "small" raise.

Waiting to see if this gets jumped on.......

Sellers will play. He’s a football player, playing for a football team. It will be his decision, not Beamer’s. I’ve had a concussion and granted there were no ‘protocols’ in my day, but I was good to go two days after.

Today's concussion protocol is not the same as in your day. The decision isn't always in the hands of the player.

10 years ago, I would have agreed with you.

That being said, since hes been at practice, I like his odds.

Sellers was offered 8 million last year by another school. So far he hasn't even looked like an 800 dollar man.
We will not get enough weapons around him to help his stock. If he wants to be a top draft pick why would he stay here?
