Nope. It is on fire. The biggest problem is that there does not appear to be bright spot here outside of Kobe Johnson getting some development. I think Bridges ceiling is a role player. Cottrell has potential, but I doubt he suddenly becomes a Butler or Jones. So that means this dumpster fire is not even good for getting developing guys for next year.
You're just blinded by your hatred of Huggins. He is the best basketball in the history of WVU and the best coach WVU will EVER have. It's not his fault his players can't shoot, pass, dribble, rebound, run an offense, and leave opponents wide open.
If the players actually listened to Huggins the team would be undefeated. Maybe the loss to UT, but they would have won the rest. He screams at them to make a shot, and guess what? They miss. He screams at them to get a rebound, and guess what? They get boxed out the opponent got a defensive rebound. He screams at them to dive over three rows of seats to save the ball, and guess what? Their toe was out - other team's ball.
He's clearly telling them what to do, they just won't do it. What else can he do?
Will never be fixed until we start throwing around some big-time money at big-time recruits. As somebody on this board said, because of NIL, cheating is now legal. It’s the norm for big-time programs. So WVU, if it wants to be big-time, needs to start throwing big-time money at big-time recruits. Until that happens, what you’re seeing now is what we’ll have every year — bigs with zero offensive skills, point guards who can’t pass, wings who can’t create their own shots and a fast-break basket once every three weeks. In other words, losing basketball.
Big time recruits will not come here. And slighter bigger-than-normal-for-WVU recruits might come, but will not stay. Not because of the school, the town, the student body, or the facilities. But for something else many here refuse to see.
Huggins will get it turned around because that's the kind of guy he is, but the team shouldnt be seeing these plummets.
Lyons will make a diversity hire whose only qualification is a box being checked that has nothing to do with basketball and we'll find ourselves in the same, or worse, place as UNC.

For as easy as it is to get future NBA All-Stars that campus, a coach would almost need to go out of his way to lose. Maybe the AD should have hired a man who had a proven resume in COACHING instead of a 4th string ESPN "analyst" that makes nicole hannah jones happy.

Just curious what exactly would Huggins have to do for you to consider it fixed? What do you think are reasonable expectations over a 5-year period?

Sports are cyclical. We are not going to be good every year and vice versa. In regard to the op he only seems to post complaints. I am just wondering what he feels are reasonable expectations for this program. The posters who like to complain never seem to answer this question when asked.
From reading this board one could easily come away thinking WVU has one of the greatest coaches in the history of college basketball, certainly a current top 10 (maybe 5) whose name is so big nationally and synonymous with WVU that many cannot seem to fathom the program surviving his retirement.

My expectations are sinking every year for football and basketball. Hoggy wrecked the football program and Kneel has made the climb steeper. Love Huggs but teams cant shoot and results continue to slide.
