Assuming you can control both situations:

If Ole Miss winning a BCS championship resulted in MSU winning an NCAA Basketball championship, would you let it happen?

Of course, we'd get the "football is more important than basketball" argument held over our heads. But, I don't care. I'd rather both of our programs have something to brag about rather than nothing at all.

It has the added benefit of shutting Coach34 up for a good long while about Stansbury.

But i'm gonna say no..

It would result in millions for UM athletic program, and I just can't let that happen.

Mississippi eventually loses their BCS championship due to recruiting violations? Now THAT I could support.

I dont know if I could stand hearing that **** all the time and no doubt what it would do to the recruiting in the state.
I dont think it would improve our recruiting in basketball too much.

I'll say no

not 1-11, not just a win over miss., but i would rather not have them win a NC in football, that's all....for 1, i value football and baseball more than basketball.....so, obivious answer is no.....2) i married an ole miss girl, and wouldnt be able to take the **** from them....kinda for selfish reasons...

I would gladly let you have that championship in return for us getting one. WE WOULD GET A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, who cares what happens at the other school.

I dont htink it would improve the recruiting by leaps and bounds in basketball. We already get our guys from every where else and are obviously gettin notoriety enough to get some national talent. I dont think there's a huge difference in the recruiting of the top 16 teams outside of the NC's and Duke's of the world. Which is a level we would still not be considered to be in if we won ONE national championship.

However, the amount it would hurt football recruiting for us if they won would be significant

Would you, OP4, take a baseball nat'l championship for OM in return for MSU getting one in bball or football? I wouldn't if the situation were reversed.

If Ole Miss won the BCS Championship and it resulted in MSU winning the National Championship in baseball.

Why?

More Ole Miss people care about baseball than basketball right now- in my opinion of course.

Again, as long as we have high-profile success, I couldn't care less what OM is doing.

And by high-profile, I mean titles in basketball and/or football. I know we have some big baseball fans in here, but I don't really get caught up in it and neither does 90% of the rest of the nation. In my opinion, football success trumps basketball success by a little to fair amount, and basketball success trumps baseball success by a mile - not even close.

..........overshadowed by a football national title at Ole Miss. You know it, I know it, we all know it. You'd never know MSU won the NCAA Tourney when every time you turn around you're hearing or seeing something that reminds you about Ole Miss' national championship glory. That, and all the money, top recruiting classes, etc. that follow it and totally annihilate what's left of MSU football.

Now if you're implying that MSU should accept and embrace "basketball school" status, then that's fine if that happens. I just won't hang around for it. I love basketball, but football was my first love and it's always what inspires me more than any other sport. I think the same is true for most sports fans in this area. I'll have to literally force myself to become a Rebel fan if we don't get our **** together in football under Dan Mullen, or if the Rebs kill our program by default by winning an SEC and/or BCS title. I'll have to consult with the Reb fans in my family on how to think like a Reb. I don't want it to come to that, of course, but I'm getting older, more tired, more cynical, and I don't have the patience for this **** anymore. Every year MSU fans tell themselves to "wait another year or two," but at 17ing Ole Miss you can somehow pull your first winning season in 5 years out of your ***(during your new coach's first year) and then be branded a top 10 team competing for an SEC and BCS title the following year. Amazing how that **** works. Well I don't have the 17ing patience for it anymore. I expect 17ing Dan Mullen to 17ing win NOW.

Yes, I'm a schizoid these days. That's what MSU football has done to me

...would be the only way that I'd be able to stomach Mississippi winning a NC in football. I can see that OM winning in football and us in basketball would be great for the state of Mississippi, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about OM winning a NC in anything. However, us winning in basketball or any of the big three would overshadow anything OM ever did.
