There is no more hysterical subject on this board than when age is being debated. Every schmoe interjecting anecdotes about their kids is my favorite part.
Not sure about hysterics, but it is fair and relevant to point out when someone has a significant age advantage, as they are farther along w/r/t puberty. Most of the posts on this that I’ve read subject seem pretty matter of fact.

I didn't say there wasn't relevance. The frenzy it becomes doesn't match such relevance, however.

You are right iron and it isn't just like they lost Bo they lost a pipeline from McCort that would have pushed iowa ahead a little in the recruiting game bigger loss then most people realize
You forgot to say AS ALWAYS, but ty
The other factor is that Bo is doing the same thing to solid college wrestlers this year. He teched Caleb Tyus who has wins this year over Ethan Stiles and Casey Swiderski and has not lost to anyone but Bo. The only college guy he has not teched was Jaxon Joy who he beat 11-1. Bo is also Joy's only loss.
^^^^^^^THIS ^^^^^^^
bo is no doubt a very good wrestler, the 2 Bachman boys have the potential to be just as good down the road.everybody should calm down alittle and enjoy what is going on. i know i enjoyed the heck out of that little tourney last weekend.
Wanted to be EXTREMELY clear here!!! I believe I speak for EVERYONE when saying we are BEYOND thrilled to get the BACHMANS!!!! They may very well turn out to be better then bo and everyone else.

The thing is, and I guess you can look at it when betting. ODDS tell you that when someone is doing what bassett is doing, you want that kid!!! HATE to beat a dead horse(or maybe I don't???) but the way it went down is what is driving me INSANE!!!!
Me too. Just glad that he's not headed to Happy Valley, Stillwater, or fOSU, at least not for 2026.
YES!!!

Losing Bo and his brothers is tough loss. But people thinking we had a pipeline to McCort isnt true. Forest went to Okie St. Not sure if we would have had got much more, I guess we will see if VT has interest and adds some. I don't think we got any other Franklin wrestlers after Spencer Lee committed but maybe there wasn't interest with Iowa either.

Who's the Lehigh guy that owns him?

Bo will find the sledding harder in college. His strength and speed will be largely negated

Need to add one of the top 2 middle weights, even though one appears to be PSU and someone here said the other kid is big on ISU.

Losing Melvin was a bigger hit. If we still could have him I’d be ok with Bo backing out. Melvin’s heart didn’t really seem into committing to Vtech. When he took us off his list, just said family comes first, didn’t seem to happy about kissing Iowa goodbye.

100, Melvin is that elite, long, fast twitch, middleweight that there are very few of. I often think about had we landed the Raney's, Bo, Melvin, and Keegan, which of the current crop wouldn't we have gotten.

He lost to Stanich this summer in a best of 3 series. I also thought that Bassett's strength and pace would be negated at the next level but since that loss to Stanich he won the Bill Farrell where he teched Sam Latona and teched Beau Bartlett and then he enter college opens where he teched #12 Caleb Tyus and majored #2 Jaxon Joy. Bassett would probably be ranked #2 at 149 in NCAA right now behind SVN.

Melvin might not be as “can’t miss” as any of us (including myself) thought. He just lost to James and I think he’s 0 for Robideau.

James is one of those can't miss kids and Robideau isn't too far behind that. It would be like if Shapiro lost to PJ Duke or vice versa, it doesn't make the loser of the match any less talented or lessen their potential.

Anyone else think Ryder Block is a match up problem for Bo? Ryder has the gas tank and big length advantage. I will take Ryder over Bo if they meet next year.

On the age thing, I'd say so what. I might have a different perspective if he was just kicking the shi*t out of high school kids but he's been wrestling everybody. The only thing that worries me about Bo is the wrestling miles that have been put on the odometer. They train like crazy, go to every event year around and putting an extra 50-60 matches that he doesn't need on top of it all. Now that he has won 4 Ironmans, I'd sit him except for maybe the FCA dual to the start of the state qualifying process. I think his real goal would be the U20 team.

If his body holds up, Bo is going to be really good in college.

Anybody doubting on Bo's abilities as a wrestler are playing themselves. Concerns about mileage on the body are valid, and possibly some of his high school contemporaries closing the gap when their physicality catches up as they get older are both valid, but as others have stated and I stated before, he's not just dominating high school kids. He's competing with and beating college wrestlers AND winning age-level world medals.

As long as his body holds up, and it's possible he's just a genetic freak, then I think his pace sets such an insanely high floor at the collegiate level. It's a bummer he's not a Hawk, though that's his own choice/fault.

No doubt. He is technically very sound, has an array of offense and has a good pace. Those attributes are going to transfer to college. It's not like the high schooler that wins on grinding and strength, where lack of real offense becomes a problem at the next level. Bo has an good idea what to do offensively and will win at the college level. AA, IMO sure thing. Champ, not so sure.

Sonny Amato will be wrestling 150 at Beast of the East, so another of our recruits will have a shot at Bo Bassett.

Amato is a funky wrestler, so I’m curious on how he would do in his counter offense that comes from his scrambling.

Would be intersteting to compare and contrast this match with Joe Vs. Bo.

Amato with another TF in the 3rd period. Looks good on feet and had a number of turns for back points. He will next have a bracket buster that beat a 6 seed and received a mfor with the 11 seed. Next round tomorrow.

SORRY- i missed this so i'll just copy and paste!!!!

Pretty original jerk wad!!! Pointing out facts, ADD something TWOOO the conversation or better yet just READ my posts, memorize them, and LEARN!!!!

In a handful of years, we can comeback and see if I am right AS ALWAYS!!!!

I will say for the record. I was PUMPED when he chose IOWA( even more then when we got SL) and beyond PISSED when he left because I felt he was a HUGE piece to bringing a CHAMPIONSHIP back to the good guys!!!!
He turned out to

Amato looked rough. Got controlled the whole match, was down 8-4 in the 3rd was in on a shot and got cradled and pinned. Idk what his plan is on his feet other than letting guys get on his leg so he can try to jonesy tilt them.

That’s something I saw him do a lot at Elite 8 duals, he seemed like he tried to bait his opponents a lot into his legs so he can do a tilt or some defense that would put them on their back.

That kid was 59 but has been a real bracket buster. Very fast athletic kid. Don’t know how he was such a low seed unless he’s new to the sport or is just wrestling out of his mind this weekend.
