Stratton and his 5.29 era is the best pitcher in the SEC! CT Bradford is the best leadoff hitter in the SEC! Darryl Norris is unreal! etc etc etc...Unreal how such a homer is considered the baseball guru around here.

...and Todd doesn't resemble either Gene or Rose Bowl.

Seriously, it should be interesting to get his perspective based on this weekend and an SEC series...

I can't say a thing about football and basketball so I am going to try to run my mouth about baseball. Although I am sure we will win 40 games, host a regional, and lose in a super, while MSU will win 33 games, make a regional and somehow go to Omaha. So it is written

that Yancy's homerism is nowhere near worse than Todd's baseball homerism the last few years. The comments about MSU's pitching staff last year in non conference play were downright embarrassing.

Giving Todd a hard time is one of my past times. I think he is on the rosy side, like all fans usually are, but he knows his stuff. My apologies Todd. The floor is yours.

that you are over here 4 games into the season, it really is; but I think its time you take one more tug off the Scope, run and put your footed PJs on, tuck Yancy's cock back into your mouth and call it a night.<div>

coming from a guy with 1000+ post on genespage. Seriously. But congrats. MSU has dominated us in football and basketball the last 2 years. No way around that.

Hmmmm.....Todd picked MSU to finish 9th in the SEC. Now that is real homerism. Everyone knows MSU will finish 10th in the SEC.

Considering it was their first ever action. Some struggled more than others, and that's to be expected.

For me, the two best looking ones were Daryl Norris and CT Bradford. (Guru)

One at bat that CT had today impressed me because he was able to pull a ball off of a left handed pitcher- you don't see a lot of freshmen hitters that are able to do that a whole lot. But even CT had a freshmen mistake or two here and there- like trying to steal on a fastball count in a situation where he had just been walked, so you KNOW there is about a 90% chance that the pitcher is going to throw a fastball. He can really cover a lot of ground, and you can tell that he is advanced.

Daryl Norris was better than I expected. He had a lot of great at bats, and I think he will hit with some power in time. I really liked that he seemed to come through in the clutch almost every time, and he would find a way to get the job done at worst- like when he got a sacrifice fly today. He looked better on the mound than he did in the scrimmages. He threw strikes and kept the ball down- his pitches seem to have a little bit of sink to them. I think he can be a weekend starter, but he needs to add another pitch. I like how he attacked the hitters and went right after them. He might be one of those players that are better during games than in scrimmages. I would look at him as a starting pitcher against Belmont and see what happens because I wasn't real pleased with Statz today.

Evan Mitchell doesn't look like he can throw 95, but he did today. Again, he threw strikes and he has a pretty good breaking ball (slider?) I thought he pitched well today and showed pretty good control. He has room to grow too- he needs to add some muscle to his frame. He got out of a jam- or as much of a jam as you can be up 13-2- and then threw three more innings. He looked comfortable out there. I would consider starting him against Belmont on Sunday as well and go with either him or Norris.

Hunter Renfroe looks like a Big Leaguer, but he also seemed overmatched out there when he was hitting. When he pitched yesterday, he walked a couple of guys, and it seems like he is having to adjust a little bit more than some of the others- he did play at Copiah Academy last year. I think it's only a matter of time before he takes off- but it might not be this year. But right now, he is swinging at bad pitches and taking pitches he shouldn't.

Demarcus Henderson is kind of in the same boat as Renfroe for me- he is still adjusting and looks a little overmatched when he is hitting, but he is at least putting the ball in play, and he was able to get an RBI even though he hasn't gotten a hit yet. You can tell that he is a great athlete. Him getting picked off on a third to first play was a bad freshman mistake, but I'm sure he will learn from that.

With both Renfroe and Demarcus, once they get that first hit, I think they will be OK. They will be a lot better late in the year than they are now. I think both are going to play a lot of us this year, though.

Taylor Stark was able to get a start and he got a hit. He is actually one of the better athletes of the freshmen, but his baseball instincts aren't where CT and Norris's are right now. His baseball IQ isn't bad at all- it's just that CT and Daryl are on another level than you would expect a freshman to be at. He pitched today, and he has to work on his control if we want to use him extensively during SEC play.

Victor Diaz looked about like I thought he would- I've busted on him a pretty good bit, but he did OK. He is going to be a middle relief guy for us and that's about it. Those guys can valuable though.

I want to see more of Adam Frazier before I pass judgement on him. He only had one at bat against Lamar's sidearm guy- who was their best pitcher today. I like how during that at bat, he tried to go to the opposite field, but he just hit it right at the third baseman. He had the right idea, though.

If I think something is good- well, I say it's good. If it's bad, I will say that as well. But whether I'm right or wrong, you get my personal thought whether that fits in with public opinion or not.

For whatever it's worth, I've seen Gene say that Hunter Renfroe is a definate first round draft pick. That is rosy in my book. I would never make a claim like that about someone unless it was someone like Drew Pomeranz or Paul Maholm- and I would never say that they were a first round pick guy until their sophomore year at the earliest. I might say that he "has a chance to be"- although, honestly, I don't know if Hunter will be a first round pick or not. You really can't tell on someone that raw after their first week of college baseball. I've also seen him say that Demarcus Henderson is a top three round pick. I laugh at stuff like that, but I hope I'm wrong and he's right. But right now, on those predictions, I would say no. But part of that is also understanding how the MLB draft works, which is fairly complex, and I don't think Gene quite understands all of it and all of the factors that go into how teams make those picks- such as signability, the fact that there is an enormous pool of talent to choose from and that drives guys down like Renfroe.

Also, he probably doesn't know about the fact that by the time Renfroe and Demarcus are juniors, there are going to be some big time changes to the draft that are going to affect where guys go- namely it going to a worldwide draft and a slotting system. It's going to affect college baseball big time- probably in a good way.

Seriously? How do you have time to even look at the Ole Miss boards? I guess at least you aren't out stalking kids voluntarily at South Panola practices. You have that going for you.

but I take everything I read on that board with a grain of salt. With that said, the simple fact that you actually cross-referenced my username simply demonstrates how pathetic of a person you are...

I am not growing wool just yet about our baseball team, but the simple fact that you are over here hanging on Todd's latest posts only validates your concern.

Mullen owns your ***. And as pathetic as we have been in basketball these last couple of years, Stansbury has owned your *** too. So, my statement still stands, maybe you will beat us in something this year...maybe.
