Do you drive on roads? Are you protected by our military?

Yes, to all of that and when do we stop asking for "more" to pay for all of this?

I mean if 65% (more than half of your earnings) isn't enough, what is?

All of it?

Then what?

Ahh, maybe he was just looking at the rack????? Guys, be honest, we ALL have had those type of moments with those type of females that when we were single, we were like "ahhh, why not".......[roll]

Ummmm, your post proves Boom's point exactly.

I think it's a great day for a good old fashioned witch trial. Someone prepare the dunking chair.

Again, an isolated incident in history. The ideals weren't always applied appropriately. Core beliefs remained the same throughout.

Do all Christians equate money with morality? Is that a core value? Go flip over some tables then.

Well boomer I'll answer that question from a book you hate to have quoted...but the Bible says you either love your money or God, but you can't love both. This is why we tithe, and why we honor Almighty God with the fruits of our Labor f-r-e-e-l-y given to those in need out of our obligations to Godly compassion we are inspired to follow by the example of Christ.

Funny thing about him is he never demanded a dime. He said render unto Ceasar what was his, and to God what was his. He didn't preach confiscatory conscription of Faith or wealth.

I'd give you the exact quote but I know you'll just dismiss it as "moral intrusion" into your otherwise al-a-carte menu.

Big difference. I have done that, it's true. I've never invited one of those home. It was in response to the, "do you want to come back to my place"? Or, if I did initiate it, it was, "do you want to go out to the parking lot real quick"?

Tough to do when you can't hear it in the first place. Can't help you out, sorry

OK then boomer my Man so let's say we have two "inner voices" talking to us about our own versions of morality.

Let's say mine says all 'White people are evil' (Keith Ellison believes this)

Yours says all 'Christians are stupid' (you believe this)

Who wins?

Which "inner voice" should we listen to boomer?

Or is it such in your "moral fabric of humanity" that we should easily accept both as legitimate moral frameworks under which to carry out our daily routines?

I understand what you're saying ... but the variation in application of those beliefs does reflect a variation in the moral code of the people practicing the religion. Even if the words in the book have never changed. The book is just a book, it's the people that make the religion and it's the action of those people that define the overall moral code being followed by the religion.

"Your actions speak so loudly that I can't hear a word you say"

Look at the "moral code" between southern baptists, methodists and catholics. All tolerate some actions while being intolerant of others, while practicing the same overarching religion of "Christianity"

Really? That's the truth in your opinion? Christian values have remained constant?

Which ones in your understanding have changed boomer?
how? ...I mean like before Christians morally believed "X" and now they believe "Y"...reference the Bible too if you don't mind so I can see how they changed Scripture (which is where most Christians draw their morality)

Really boomer? You could have fooled me. You argue as if it at least attempts to be the sole arbiter of such. When did I ever suggest it was? I argue for Christian morality that is true, but I'm willing to concede to it's competitors. Let's have it.

OK. I'm not even allowed to compete even after accepting your charge that my morality is not the only option?

Funny boom, I thought the classroom was no place for such a discussion?

But you just claimed Christianity thinks it's all there is? Which is it?

You just said Christianity does not have a monopoly on morality. Now you're saying Christians disagree on their own morality? So which Christian "monopoly" are you worried about boom?

OK, so why worry about what Christians believe? Who's asking your students to accept only their version of morality? You sure are intent on making sure they reject it (at the expense of everything else of course)

Is this in the classroom, or in your personal Life? I mean you did say the classroom is no place to teach morality or am I putting words in your mouth boom?

Well that's certainly comforting. I really liked that fabric when my ancestors were enslaved...no one had a right to insist that was wrong back then...after all it was a different time for both yours and my ancestors wasn't it boom? Fabric was pretty cool for you White folks.... wonder what changed it?

Funny boomer, I thought you had finished your "cleansing" and your morality had removed all of your foibles. You almost had me convinced following your prescription of moral "options" one could live the perfect Life as you apparently do?

I'm going to you from now on to find out just exactly how to apply the perfect moral mix to my "mo".

Maybe you can start me off with how I should feel "morally" about having 65% of my personal income taken away from me by the various Government agencies who have their hands on my wallet before I even bring my hard earned pay home?

It breaks down like this:

Federal tax rate 23%
State tax rate 16%
F.I.C.A tax rate 15.6% (combination employer/employee pay)
Medicare tax rate 7.5%
Sales tax rate (on finished goods and services...anywhere from 1.5 up to 6% rate)

Total=65-68% depending on how you calculate the sales taxes on my "after tax" dollars.

How "moral" is that boom My Man? How should I react to that, I mean today, at this time?
80% worthless bs. 20% that might have been worth reading, I forgot already due to the overwealming amount of crap.

There wasnt slavery in the Bible? But the Bible always condemned slavery as a sin though right?

Yes to both boom.
There was slavery in the Bible boomer. Who was "enslaved"?

Who did the "enslavement"? boom?

Who ended it, much to the displeasure and resistance of the enslavers boomer?

If it was a Sin (it was) what was the "moral fabric of society" then that would allow such a thing, and what "moral fabric of society" ended it boomer?

Actually boomer, I was just looking for your "inner voice" or "fabric of society" morals on nearly 3/4s of my income being removed from my control before I even get to spend a penny of it?

Morally, that's outrageous to me and I can't imagine anyone sees it differently. I certainly don't see anyone marching to have anymore taken from them (except if you're on the Left and resent anyone else who makes more than you do)

I sort of figured the rest was beyond your ability to properly organize because it's all over the place (but it's everything you've argued at one time or another)

So I guess you see our government as a type of Nazi financial SS squad that, without any representation from you at all, makes the choice to figuratively kick in your financial door and take whatever they want?

Really, all I can say is vote. Wait.....isn't your boy in office? And doesn't your political flag reign over the majority of Congress? Well then, everything should be ok next year then, with the moral Christian Right in charge.

Since Christian doctorine is so concrete and infallible, and those living by the Christian objective moral code make no mistakes or sins. We should all be in the good soon. Well unless those secular heathen liberals and democrats act like the Constitution was written for them as well.

She even said he DID NOT invite her "up to his hotel room". Other people were present and have verified that fact.

This seems like splitting hairs a little ... invited her to the hotel vs. invited her to his hotel room ... although it could be a significant distinction if the invitation was to the restaurant at the hotel.

Either way, it doesn't much move my givashitometer ... to me it's between him and his wife and the woman. Unless of course, her refusal impacted her career with the network.

Seems like an overall culture at that network that doesn't reflect what they claim to defend on air.

makes the choice to figuratively kick in your financial door and take whatever they want?

Last I checked boomer, if I don't pay I go to jail (or they take from me through garnishments first) They certainly aren't "asking" for my "contributions" my friend.

Even Christian morality can't force change overnight boomer, folks have to first see what's wrong, then agree on how to fix it. Show me how to make THAT happen overnight?

Since Christian doctorine is so concrete and infallible, and those living by the Christian objective moral code make no mistakes or sins

Boomer if you understand nothing else about Christianity, understand that Christians DO NOT believe they are without Sin. In fact that is the first thing they recognize before becoming Christians. You on the Left don't even think there is such a thing! How can you blame Christians for 1st realizing it, then make jokes about us pretending as if we don't have any?

unless those secular heathen liberals and democrats act like the Constitution was written for them as well.

It was boomer, the only problem is most folks on the Left are constantly trying to get around it or at least they act as if it shouldn't be there. Especially the parts limiting Leviathan...like those taxes.

The Left can't get enough of somebody else's money, and they sure don't want any Constitutional restrictions on spending it.

You are either lying or just plan wrong. Your FICA tax rate is 7.65% FICA includes SS and Medicare.

Also - in what fresh hell of a state are you paying a 16% income tax rate? Move the f out of that place.

Employers pay a portion of what I'm counting Coop, Social Security and Medicare are not both paid by employers. My Georgia tax rate was 16% based on my income, I got some credits but that was my effective after tax rate. I also live in Gwinnett county where we have BOTH a 1% added penny sales tax, AND a county sales tax of 6%. They're reaming us here.

It was worse in California where I moved here from, and even worse in New York State where I lived before California!

Guess who runs both of those states Coop?

You need a better accountant if your effective tax rate is 16% in Georgia. In fact, you may want to call the authorities on them, because I'm pretty sure they are stealing from you. The highest individual income tax rate for Georgia last year was 6%.

And again, your first post had FICA at 15.6% (it's 7.65) and Medicare at 7.5% (it's 1.45 and already part of FICA). Your post was inaccurate. Paying 45-50% in taxes is disturbing enough, don't lie to make it seem worse. Argue from the side of true facts.

Your Georgia rates are incorrect. (not sure what you googled to get that info) but give me your e-mail and I'll happily attach a copy my most recent Georgia tax return to show you what my effective tax rate was and what I paid.

As for SS and Medicare I said employers pay half of that 7.5%. We pay the other half. The total is somewhere in the 15.6 % range, that too depends on your income level and after a certain amount of income you have to pay all of it.

Medicare taxes as far as I know are not included in that total (it's why they list it as a separate line item deduction on the withholding section of your pay stub)..but I'll admit my numbers on that may be slightly off.

The bottom line is Coop, fully 3/4s or more of my income is removed from me before I get to decide how to spend the rest.

Don't forget I'm also paying the taxes of the manufacturers and producers of the products or services I purchase with after taxed dollars.

Airline tickets, food, cars, clothing, utility bills, sports tickets...all of that gets taxed too and I pay all of those taxes with after tax dollars!

I think we are taxed too much, where am I wrong?

I don't know what to tell you Cooper. When I calculate what I paid on my taxable income from my Georgia 2016 return that total is 16% of what I earned. Now you're talking to me about the Georgia income tax tables being at only a 6% top rate, but the amount of tax anyone pays on that is going to vary from individual to individual.

I posted what I paid, what my taxes were. Someone who files a Federal return at the top 39.6% rate doesn't pay only 39.6% of their income to Uncle Sam in taxes.

I'm glad you don't do my taxes, I'm paying enough and you apparently think I didn't pay enough, or at least my particular tax bite was not all that bad right Coop?

OK, I'll send you my tax bill next year and you can pay it for me since I'm getting such a break. That be alright with you?

I'll bet you your tax rate Coop was not the effective percentage of your income that was paid on your taxes.

Rates are what are used to calculate what you owe. The actual percentage of that amount relative to your income is not going to be the same.

Trump paid a tax rate of 39.6% on those '95 returns, but that 35 million dollar tax bite he ponied up was a different percentage of his actual total income for that year.

Rates and effective percentages of taxable incomes are two different things my friend.

The Left loves to argue that tax rates are low enough that we all can afford to send in more, they never look at the actual percentages of your total taxable income those higher tax rates consume.

I was referring to your demeaning of secular standards of morality having such horrible results in society. People who do not have a Christian moral standard are always changing their ideas of morality and so therefore do not hold to any moral standard at all, because it's not objectively derived from the Bible?

But as you know, People living by that Christian moral code....break it all the time. So, just because someone Believes in a moral code, if they don't actually adhere to it what good does that moral code actually do for society? Yet a secular approach to morality, that aims to draw a moral outline that can reach across religious doctorine and also apply to people in society that do not say they adhere to a religious moral code, can't possibly prevent people from acting immorally or even understanding what an immoral act is?

The only way that makes any sense at all, is if you accept that establishing a Christian moral code prevents most in society from acting in contrast to that code. Not only is that not true (which I sarcastically mocked in your example), but Christian moral code HAS changed through time (although I would be willing to concede that the basic core is consistent).

Thinking that secular members of society have no idea or sense of morality is just ridiculous. As ridiculous as someone saying that Christians are never acting immorally.....get the sarcasm?
