Looks like TA will try to go pro playing receiver. Smart move since I highly doubt any team would give him a look at QB.

The Bears are shopping Cutler to make room for TA.

Obviously there is a history of QBs switching to wide receiver, but most of those guys (Kordel Stewart, Julian Edelman) have burner speed. I think Armstrong is a great athlete, but I'm not sure if his measurables will position him to make it at the next level. Time will tell, but I'd be more than surprised.

Agreed. I'm guessing he runs high 4.6s at the pro day, which means he definitely isn't getting drafted at his height. He'll have his work cut out for him from there. If he catches well, I'm sure he'd be physical after the catch.

I wish Tommie well in his endeavors to get drafted in the NFL.

If Eric Crouch had difficulty making receiver with all the speed he had and he didn't quit cut it despite having dreams of still being an NFL QB.

My guess is he performs well, nothing eye popping though. A team maybe takes him as a undrafted free agent and he bounces around practice squads for a few years. Don't mean to sound harsh, his abilities just don't look to translate well to the pros.

Best of luck to TA

WR wasn't the problem for Crouch. The problem was his inability to admit he didn't have a pro arm.

Best of luck, Tommy. Too bad their isn't a specialized roster spot for a hail mary passer. He can launch a football like nobody's bidness.

40-times are really over rated. A WR that runs great routes can overcome a bad 40 time. Look at guys like Boldin & amendola , who run very good routes and it makes up for speed . On the flip side, see a guy like Heyward-Bey who excited a ton of scouts with his 40-time and absolutely sucks @ things like catching & route running.

TA can do it. I am pulling for him. He's got a great teacher right now and being an ex-QB really helps him

Fully aware of all that and I agree. However, he also has to have a way to get his foot in the door.

Eric Crouch's problem was he didn't WANT to play receiver. He honestly thought he could continue playing QB since played it his whole life, and probably never had anyone tell him a cross word about maybe not having what it took to translate in the pro's. I can't stand Michael Irvin, but he was the one I loved hearing from when Crouch was working out and preparing for the preseason as a receiver. Crouch said something about how he had worked the ENTIRE offseason after the bowl games on learning routes and said he learned everything there was about being a receiver. He really believed what he was saying. Michael Irvin was in studio somewhere and was visibly angry at that comment made by Crouch. Irvin said something like "You don't even know where to stand in the huddle!" I was laughing my *** off when I heard that.

He's a mid 4.5 guy, but playing a skill at spot in the league isn't as much about your speed as agility, short shuttle, and change of direction quickness. Tommy is sub 4 in that category and if healthy, he will get a shot.

It is weird how many young men go through 4 years of top athletic training, and lose a couple tenths off their forty time when they go to the combine. They were a legit 4.4 out of high school and can only run 4.6 at the ultimate job interview. A lot of these same young men shrink in height too. We really need to look into this epidemic.

Good luck to him finding a spot, but not seeing it at WR or RB either one. I don't think he has the burst for either one at that level, among other things.

Unless it's a deep route, he'll be starting from square one on knowing where the route ends up.
