Ok Since all you bash my rumor about no staff changes lets throw this out there. Say Greg has the balls and makes the calls that get the Walrus gone. Would you love it or hate it if we hired Bowden.

I would prefer that we hire someone that is an up and comer that is looking to move up in the college football world, but I would be fine with Bowden. My biggest fear would be that he would hire one of his brothers, who aren't very good coaches. (We are MSU)

More for the fact we'd be rid of Crxxm than that we hired Bowden. But I'd be OK with hiring Bowden, and I'm sure by the next August, I'd be downright sheepish about it. Hell, what am I saying? I'd be sheepish about it by January.

B/c he might actually take the job if there's and under the table deal he becomes the H/C after Croom is shitcanned

....is a case by case basis as to whether or not I would rather have big time college football head coaching at experience (at Miss. State that's a retread) vs. gambling on a young, fiery energetic assistant or head coach at a lower level. My viewpoint on names that have been mentioned....

Tommy Tubberville>Young, Unproven Assistant>Tommy Bowden>Sly Croom.

In other words, I'd rather have Bowden over Croom, but I think I'd rather take my chances with somebody else than Tommy.

I really feel that Tuberville has lost that fire that he once had, if you watch him during the game it looks like he is ready to just get it over with.

I think Bowden would have something to prove. His record is 90-49 overall including a 12-0 season at Tulane of all places.

....but I think he's laying low because now Croom is back next year, regardless of what happens around the country. I do think we'll have some shiny new assistants though.

Bowden is the guy I would least like to see in Starkville. He was always right on the cusp in Clemson and he recruited quite well. I think he could do good things for you guys...so lets just agree to keep Croom around for a while-ok?

....but if you are telling me that I have a choice between Bowden and Tubberville, there is no way I would take Bowden. Remember, Tubberville has gone undefeated while playing in our division. We know what we would get out of Bowden - a respectable football team that can't get the job done when it counts.

Byrne has not come with the support for our head coach statement amidst all the rumors. I may read it the wrong way, but I will also choose to let Byrnes' silence speak loudly. Until proven wrong I will hold on to the hope that Byrne is in fact figuring a way to rid us of the walrus after the season. If it takes a Tommy Bowden then that is ok with me.

A lot better.

Need I remind everyone that Clemson was ranked 9th in the preseason and will struggle to make a bowl game?

Clemson is a consistent underachiever. Is that what we want?

If 10 bowls in 10 years at MSU is underacheiving, then I want some of that underacheiving, and he did it at Tulane and Clemson.
The problem with Clemson is that Danny Ford won the NC in 1981, and every coach since then has been compared to Ford. If Bowden had that record at MSU, we could dig up the Christmas tree and put a staute of TB in its place. Just saying .

....I want to get somebody who I believe has the ability to win the conference, even if that person has not had the opportunity to prove that they can yet. We know Tommy couldn't take us there.

Why do we want a guy that underachieved in the ACC? The SEC>ACC.....so by my reasoning those same teams he had moderate success with in the ACC go 5 wins in SEC. No thanks. If we get a Bowden then I'm done. (No, i'm probably not) Damn, being a State fan is awesome.

We could definitely do a lot better, but we could do are currently doing a lot worse.

is that he had a lot more resources at Clemson than he would have here. And I can recall at least 4-5 times that Clemson was highly regarded coming into a season, but wound up in a lower-tier bowl, including the reason he got canned this year. He had the horses, but couldn't finish. We need an overachiever here, not an underachiever. My point is that he wouldn't have that same record at MSU. Also Rich Rodriguez was his OC at Tulane, don't forget that little tidbit.
