His 3 year conference record at Auburn is 12-38 and that is the worst win % in school history over a 3 year period. Safe to say he's fired. Why do I feel like they're going to hire Stansbury?

If I'm stansbury I'm sitting on my tail for a couple years and collecting a nice pension starting at that time.

A) All the Auburn people on other boards say he is returning another season

B) They are not going to hire Stansbury....he'll be back in the bus leagues ala Brady....and so what if they did? It took him 4 years to get us in the NCAA Tourney when he took over, he won one NCAA Tourney game his last 7 seasons, and his last 3 years were alot of undisciplined dumsterfires

I just don't see how they can justify keeping Barbee. Even by Auburn standards, his W/L record is turrible. If it's about money, they just dumped a ton of money into a new arena. Why build it and settle for the worst basketball in school history?

I could see Stansbury sitting out, but then again if I'm an AD at any school in the SEC other than Florida or UK and need a coach I'm going after Stans first. Relatively young guy who is out of a job and won a good bit in the SEC. Glad we got rid of him, but I'm sure Arkansas or Auburn would love to have that same success compared to the last X amount of years.

Most people feel his best days are behind him and dont want the circus his teams have surrounding them. How could you watch that team the last 2 years as an opposing AD as Renardo Sidney walked up and down the court and say to yourself- "I sure wish we had Rick Stansbury as our coach"

I don't know much about Barbee

But I do know the Barbee I saw on the bench had the look of a man that hates his job. He looked like a pouting toddler.

he looked to me like he hated his team. He definitely wasnt enjoying himself today at any time during the game. Looked miserable

He definitely hates Chubb. He screamed "OPEN" at him when the inbounding player had to call timeout. You could hear him clear as day and he echoed in the Hump he screamed it so loud. Then the camera zoomed in on him giving Chubb the death stare. He has the aura of a completely frustrated coach that has lost connection with his team. Wasn't he a total dick when asked about Moultrie? His days are numbered shorter than that gawd awful haircut he sports.

wasnt Barbee a Calapari disciple?

who was brought in to bring in the talent at Auburn? They havent signed one high profile recruit to my knowlegde. It kind of makes you glad we didnt go with Kenny Payne, because we very well could have ended up with the same results. Barbee won with Moultrie at UTEP ( Cal gift wrapped Moultrie to Barbee by shipping him out to UTEP via Memphis high school bball ) . You would think Cal might help Barbee at Auburn also by sending him a player or two but it looks as if that hasnt happened yet either

Wtf? Because Barbee sucks at Auburn that means Kenny Payne will suck at MSU? No. Yet you also let us know that Barbee was successful at UTEP AND Calipari funneled arguably the best player (draft wise) that ever played for MSU to him. Thanks for proving my point.

His point is

that being a disciple of some glorious coach doesn't mean ****. Kenny Payne could have been good, or could have been a disaster. I'm just glad we got Ray.

Being a Cal disciple is about the 4th or 5th reason I wanted Payne but using Barbee's struggles at Auburn to somehow discredit Payne is ruhtarded.

Funny that we've never seen you even mention reasons #1, #2, and #3 (and maybe #4). Fact is, you're ******** theory on hiring a Calipari disciple bringing in all the leftover talent Kentucky can't use has Auburn in the cellar. The leftover talent Kentucky can't use goes to North Carolina, Kansas, etc.

You're not looking at it big picture. You're an AD of a school with horrible basketball tradition. There's a head coach who "retired" and never really had a "bad" season, compared to your school at least. Why do AD's hire football coaches months after they are fired?

But everybody and their brother knows The Recruiter wasnt fired because of his won/loss record. And it's those reasons that will likely keep him from getting another big job. Plus other AD's and people hear about things those of us never do. I just dont see it happening

Dude who the 17 knows if Barbee and Cal even speak to each other anymore. The fact you are assuming Payne would suck because Barbee sucks is seriously some dumb *** ****. For whatever reason Cal and him seemed to have had a falling out so there's your reason for no more funneled players but Barbee isn't best friends with Wes. Reason #1 I wanted KP is because all of our former players including Dampier wanted him bad. Reason #2 I wanted KP is because of his ties with Wes and AAU basketball. Reason #3 I wanted KP is because he's good friends with Phil Knight Mr. Nike himself and Nike has done tremulous things for Oregon and happen to be a personal favorite of mine. Reason #4 I wanted KP is for him being right next to Cal's side and coaching the best players in basketball for the last 3-4 years he has got to have learned something. There you go dipshit.
