You've got some serious inadequacy issues, my man. You should save them for group. They've got 12 titles. I'd call it confidence and not arrogance.

Apparently you don't know the difference. Lenti=Arrogance.
No state play offs this year, 1 and done last year, loss to PC 2 yrs ago in title game--teams going downhill, maybe he can start recruiting from Michigan.

Come on guys!! Again not taking a side in this, but a father touting his son's ability to play football is okay with me whether on this board or off it. I would expect nothing less from someone who cares about him.

I don't know all the history of what occurred in the past with MC and teams they have played. All the kids I seen this year playing football are learning life skills from their coaches and team mates. MC has an excellent reputation as a team to be reckoned with. Haven't heard about Lenti being arrogant except on this board. He certainly was cordial enough when Montini played MC this year.

The players on MC were well trained in their system and demonstrated sportsmanship on the field and are a credit to their parents and coaches. Sometimes you have the horses and sometimes you don't.

Coaches make good and bad decisions relative to game plans as well as in how they utilize their players. Then again there are good coaches and bad coaches. We all criticize something or other on this board including coaching decisions. But after all is said and done the coaches are with these kids day in and day out during the season and deserve our respect unless they demonstrate they don't deserve it.

Probably just stuff building up for the past 25 years. Now 2 extremely gifted senior athletes and 2 above average classes (Jrs and Srs) have given Viking fans two great years and he knows it's time to fire away. So I say let them have their moment. Seniors graduate in May.

All I'm saying is this game has lost its luster. In the last 15 yrs Catholic schools have won 13, in the last 7 yrs the public league team has been Curie or Simeon.
No one thinks or talks about being in the prep bowl until they lose their play off game or don't make the play offs. Then it's like this game is the second coming of Christ. I'm happy for the kids that want to play, but until the public league can get a team to compete this is like the NFL pro bowl no one cares.

Right, but the post was started by you regarding next year's CCL. I think it was one of the other threads you ripped on the Prep Bowl and the team representing the CCL in the Prep Bowl. So you do "care" enough to get into any CCL thread to take your shots at certain schools.

Be that as it may, the Prep Bowl losing its luster is a major understatement with the old crowds of 70,000 generations ago and through the current State series era starting back in 1974. Heck yeah it's lost its luster. Even the athletes at that age don't understand, any moment you can dress and compete for your school just one more time is special. Heck, 90% of this board of 20 to 70 year olds would give an arm to have the opportunity to dress and compete one more game.

So I don't think you are making any groundbreaking announcements about the state of the Prep Bowl, but just using it as a backdrop to take shots at programs you don't like.

No matter what, different uniform, same pew, Good luck to your Vikings this weekend. 2 years in the state semi finals is a great accomplishment. You should feel proud.

2012- State Champions
2013- State Champions
2014- Semi Finals
2015- lost to eventual State Champions 7-0 without best running back, won Prep Bowl
2016- Some tough loses, lost to LA by 7....kept their composure, got some payback beating SR and BR in Prep Bowl playoffs
I don't know about you but any CCL team would give their left nut to have this be there last 5 seasons

I will say this again... there is far less competition at Fenwick than any of those 3 schools (4 including MC). The job would be Dutton's for 2 years no questions asked.
I would have sworn that I read somewhere that there isn't any athletic recruiting in the private schools.

Gene K, you seem to know a lot about Montini, I live in the area... would love to hear your thoughts on their future. Well, would love to hear everyone in this threads thoughts.

Benet, Fenwick, Glenbard West, Immaculate Conception all still playing, Montini's direct competition for kids with all those schools. No surprise that Fenwick, Benet and IC are up and the Broncos are down... worst case scenario for the Broncos.

Is the dynasty dead? 6a too much? Coach A plans?

It's a down year and many saw this coming. Solid group of juniors and good sophisticated coming up, so 2017 should be interesting. If theyou stay away from PR this year, they are likely in the semis.

Coach A.? Wouldn't shock me if he retired soon, but he has been threatening that for 5 years.

As far as knowing a lot about Montini I would defer that to Wassap13 and MCHSalumni. They have been following Montini a lot longer than I have.

Frustrating year for Montini especially on defense. At the start of the season many juniors were in starting positions after not playing much at the varsity level last year. Understandable as we did not lose a game last year but nevertheless hurt us this year.

This year Montini had a ton of injuries in key positions, some from the beginning of the season. Our star running back, Walker pulled a hamstring running track before the start of the season and was out most of the year. The second back, Will Smith, did fine but broke his thumb midway thru the season. Montini lost badly to Maine South, Fenwick and Brother Rice during the regular season and Prairie Ridge in the state playoffs. Fenwick, Maine South and Prairie Ridge are still playing in the state semifinal. Montini won 6 games in a row before running into the Prairie Ridge buzz saw in the playoffs. PR (undefeated) has been very impressive the whole year and IMO will be State champs next Friday. Overall it was a down year according to Montini standards but nothing to be ashamed of.

Our juniors who played a lot this year gained a ton of experience on both offense and defense. The soph games I seen this year had a lot of talented athletes making plays and several of them will be starting next season. IMO next year should be another good year for Montini as there is a ton of talent especially in play maker positions. Have heard rumors that Coach A might retire but sure hope not as he is a tremendous coach and mentor to these young men.

Id probably have LA 1. I do think the win streak ends though.

BR loses Smalling, Valladay, Lacy, Borelli, Washington, Veal. Will be mainly juniors. Juniors to be are 18-0. Might even have a soph QB. Rebuilding year for 2018

MC should be very good. Definitely a bounce back year. Set at many spots next 2 years.

SR probably about on par with this year. PC i have no idea.
Rice guy here. Who's the soph QB? Maybe you mean jBean a jr?

The only thing I would disagree with if you took a look at this class freshman year, it may have been one of the most talented classes ever at Montini. We also came close to landing Jordan Rowell from IC to this class as he was giving Montini a long look before opting to IC. As sophs this team was incredible.

There were a few odd things that happened along the way that stopped this class from doing much better. Overall still very proud of this special group of students at Montini!

Next year should be great! Juniors got a lot of experience and playing time and some very talented sophs and frosh should be on varsity next year.

Rita has the QB back along with three quality WR's. Childers back as the featured RB should be fun to watch. Very good kicker back for two years. Scoring will not be a problem. My concern is will be how much will they be able to keep the other team from scoring. This seems to be a prevalent problem a lot of teams had this year. This past winter the offense was completely revamped. This winter maybe the defense needs to take on a new look.

As I have said in the past SR is very lucky to have 351 offensive coordinators. 1 in the booth and 350 in the stands. Of course most teams call them 350 parents and alumni. This year many of the 350 became defensive coordinators and defensive back coaches.
And for good reason !!

Viking 87 only time he take his foot out of his mouth is to put the other one in

MC is a top notch football program
No college recruiter comes to Illinois with out going thru MC. And if you have ever been on a college visit everyone knows MC they also are in the top 10 team in the country who produce the top talent MC has Players in
NFL ,Pro bowl and Super bowl

Fact

Everything else is just sour grapes

Br Rice, Rita, Laurence all had players in the NFL and some played in a Super Biwl or 2 and have the rings to prove it.
MC & Lenti are top notch recruiters and bullsh**ters. You better be a top team when you recruit from a 100 mile radius.
Please put the kool aid down.

Yeah great to see the neighborhood school going to outsiders. Keep up the good work Badke.

Marist & Rita are actually the only schools left with neighborhood kids playing, not standing on the sidelines.

Neighborhood players that contributed this year we're kean, king, marozsas, green, and gannon. so they do have some meaningful players from their own back yard. biggest difference in my opinion is while other schools lost some top players to transfer. bring brought in borelli, lacy , and kindle. have to give them props for recruiting after freshman year.

So because of negative recruiting rice is getting players? I wish it was that easy
I say this out of complete respect, we might not agree on Rice recruiting but I have no issue with you. It may be time to just let these posts go, I won't say you have your head in the sand but you refuse to agree that things multiple people are bringing up are true, so why try to fight them? If you honestly believe nothing like that is going on it's best to leave it alone and hope those claims die or go unnoticed, becasuse you're not going to convince others that Rice isn't committing these acts.
