is a freaking awesome movie. Go see it in the theater on the biggest screen possible. Enjoy feeling the entire theater rumble, and enjoy the anxiety from the g forces. And enjoy Jennifer Connelly because my god...
97% on Rotten Tomatoes. And one of the bad reviews was about there not being enough women leadership in the movieI read that it was getting great reviews.
So the bad reviews are from whiney woke libs. Makes me even more excited for this movie. If they hate it, I'm sure I'll like it even more!Just look at the 'bad' reviews
'This is basically just escapist authoritarian porn for white dads.'
'its familiar “Top Gun” mixture of jingoistic claptrap, macho posturing and formulaic excitement feels as mechanical as its military hardware.'
'Top Gun: Maverick is an uninspired, outdated retread of 1986’s Top Gun, but with more implausible scenarios and with no women in military leadership positions ..'

I just saw the movie this afternoon. I highly recommend it. There were several blacks in leadership positions, a black fighter pilot, a female pilot and all the blocks were checked in my opinion. Only malcontents would be critical.97% on Rotten Tomatoes. And one of the bad reviews was about there not being enough black leadership in the movie![]()
I am going to watch it again.Yeah I had to change my quote because I remembered incorrectly. The reviewer said women. Either way it was awesome.
I am going to watch it again.
One woman was a pilot and she had a white male in the cockpit behind her. She was his leader I guess. To be honest I am not a bean counter and pay little attention as to how diverse a movie is. I would have enjoyed it if all the pilots were women or all black or all whatever.I don't recall any women in leadership roles in the movie. Also I'm not in the Navy and have no idea how many women are in leadership roles in the Navy. Especially when you narrow it down to a very, very small group.

Women have every opportunity in the Armed Forces. My granddaughter received an appointment to the Air Force Academy and will report in mid June to Basic Cadet Training. Representative Andy Barr of Kentucky recommended her and the Air Force accepted her into the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs. She has wanted to be a jet fighter pilot since her youth and will be given that chance. What more could one ask for.
According to this article, there has only ever been one female captain of an aircraft carrier. Only 13% of officers with a rank of captain or above are female. So it sounds like the movie is pretty accurate with regard to gender in leadership.97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Only 4% of navy pilots were women as of 2013. I couldn't find a more recent statistic. The new top gun movie has at least two female pilots out of 15 or so. So it seems fairly representative of our current navy..We only have 11 Carriers in service so there aren't exactly a lot of job openings. Also most carrier captains are x-pilots

I blame it on my upbringing. I was taught early in life what male and female were. I even know what they are on a garden hose. So be disgusted at the girl I met behind grandpa's barn, she helped me see the light. How do you know she was a woman and he was a man? Did you even ask? You disgust me

We watched the first one last night at the house as a refresher.
I was somewhat surprised Meg Ryan and Kelly McGillis were not considered for the sequel. But on second thought maybe not. I do like the way they brought Val Kilmer into the movie and used his personal battle with throat cancer as a part of a very moving scene. That was fantastic in my opinion.

That wasn’t accurate, I was looking for it. Taiwan and Japan’s flag are on the jacket.

Back to the movie, I have to see it once again on the big screen. It will never grow old.
That's awesome! Congrats to her. If I wasn't paralyzed, I would have wanted the same thing. Proud of her and I wish her well. Who knows, maybe she'll get to pilot a "fat amy" the F-35!One woman was a pilot and she had a white male in the cockpit behind her. She was his leader I guess. Am I the only one who wants no part in riding one of those jets?
here's a true tautology brother; That’s like going to see an action movie and complaining there’s not enough romance.
If I got to watch Batman I’m not going to be upset if there’s not a reference to historical Victorian England.
People are stupid.
You will be MADE to CARE!! Kneel before Zod!!When did "escapist authoritarian porn for white dads" become a BAD thing?
Maybe going to a movie for entertainment isn't the point anymore, and our free time should be spent on enlightenment, self-deprecation, and atonement for being born a man, and you know, white.
How dare you enjoy yourselves. The nerve...
The chance to ride in a fighter jet is something you can't turn down IMO. Even if you end up hating it, it's so rare to get the opportunity that you're duty bound to do it.
