Just look at the 'bad' reviews

'This is basically just escapist authoritarian porn for white dads.'

'its familiar “Top Gun” mixture of jingoistic claptrap, macho posturing and formulaic excitement feels as mechanical as its military hardware.'

'Top Gun: Maverick is an uninspired, outdated retread of 1986’s Top Gun, but with more implausible scenarios and with no women in military leadership positions ..'

So the bad reviews are from whiney woke libs. Makes me even more excited for this movie. If they hate it, I'm sure I'll like it even more!

Pretty much. I mean anyone around my age wanted to be Maverick growing up. Hell as an adult I still want to be Maverick. Get the hot girl AND get to fly around in a fighter jet? I'll bomb whatever target you give me.

97% on Rotten Tomatoes. And one of the bad reviews was about there not being enough black leadership in the movie 🙄
I just saw the movie this afternoon. I highly recommend it. There were several blacks in leadership positions, a black fighter pilot, a female pilot and all the blocks were checked in my opinion. Only malcontents would be critical.

We watched the first one last night at the house as a refresher.

I don't recall any women in leadership roles in the movie. Also I'm not in the Navy and have no idea how many women are in leadership roles in the Navy. Especially when you narrow it down to a very, very small group.
One woman was a pilot and she had a white male in the cockpit behind her. She was his leader I guess. To be honest I am not a bean counter and pay little attention as to how diverse a movie is. I would have enjoyed it if all the pilots were women or all black or all whatever.

Women have every opportunity in the Armed Forces. My granddaughter received an appointment to the Air Force Academy and will report in mid June to Basic Cadet Training. Representative Andy Barr of Kentucky recommended her and the Air Force accepted her into the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs. She has wanted to be a jet fighter pilot since her youth and will be given that chance. What more could one ask for.

You must be one proud papa. Getting into a service academy is quite the accomplishment.

One of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life. Just incredible start to finish. Shoot, my wife and kids were speechless when we walked out and then wouldn’t stop talking about it after that.

Casting was great. Action was nonstop. Had plenty of the throwback stuff but it was a stand-alone crazy great movie.

Am I the only one who wants no part in riding one of those jets?

Looks like a great movie though. Nice to see Hollyweird didn't totally botch this.

That’s like going to see an action movie and complaining there’s not enough romance.

If I got to watch Batman I’m not going to be upset if there’s not a reference to historical Victorian England.

People are stupid.

Saw the film tonight. Very good until the 3rd act (final mission), then fantastic! This is the best action movie I’ve seen since possibly the best pure action film ever - Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Do yourself a favor and go see this while still on the big screen where it’s more than a movie - it’s a cinematic experience.

The aerial combat scenes, especially in the final act, are nearly heart-stopping. Amazing visuals and first class stunt-work with nearly all practical effects (very little CGI from what I’ve read) which is almost hard to believe given what was captured on screen.

Like the original, the plot is very straight-forward. They play plenty of fun homage to the original, especially in the first half hour, then set about making the film stand on its own. Some of the non-combat scenes and acting are a little cheesy, but nothing the action doesn’t over-come. I give the film 9/10. Great fun! A must see in the cinema.

I blame it on my upbringing. I was taught early in life what male and female were. I even know what they are on a garden hose. So be disgusted at the girl I met behind grandpa's barn, she helped me see the light.

Back to the movie, I have to see it once again on the big screen. It will never grow old.

That's awesome! Congrats to her. If I wasn't paralyzed, I would have wanted the same thing. Proud of her and I wish her well. Who knows, maybe she'll get to pilot a "fat amy" the F-35!

When did "escapist authoritarian porn for white dads" become a BAD thing?

Maybe going to a movie for entertainment isn't the point anymore, and our free time should be spent on enlightenment, self-deprecation, and atonement for being born a man, and you know, white.

How dare you enjoy yourselves. The nerve...
You will be MADE to CARE!! Kneel before Zod!!

ps. Jen Connelly is on my get out of jail free list, Wife agreed that if I can nail her, good for me. Then she laughed snarkily.
