You disagree playoff games are more important? That's a weird take. But did I say that's inaccurate?
Beating Oregon or OSU in the regular season is definitely more important than beating a team like SMU in the playoffs.

PSU was expected to beat SMU & Boise last year. Besides we don't recruit against those teams. Franklin will struggle to recruit top talent against teams like OSU & Oregon if can't beat them head to head.

In no sport is a regular season game as important as a playoff game. That idea is absurd,
I would say the truth is in the middle… Yes, a playoff game is typically much more important than a regular season game, but Franklin has a big-game reputation that can’t be ignored. Losing both this one and @OSU would not be good for the program (unless we make the playoff and run the table). So I’m hoping we win tonight, lessening the pressure on the game in Columbus.

I'd like to win them all, but you can lose a regular season game and still win the conference -or the Natty- lose a playoff game and it's over.

You're battling never-Frankliners like MacNot and lakabrain for worst take, Eeyore.
I don't know how anybody can consider that a bad take. Even McAfee called this the biggest game in 10 years.

Oh, McAfee said so?!? Why didn't you say so in the first place?! Well that changes ... absolutely nothing. I obviously don't know what McAfee actually and exactly said, and in what context, but it also doesn't matter at all. He's a goofy entertainer.

Everyone's goal is to win a Natty when the season starts. Playoff games are the only way to do that. Ergo, playoff games are always bigger games than regular season games (unless, perhaps a regular season game directly and irrevocably changes the "yes" or "no" question of "will we make the playoffs?"

It's not. No game has more importance than a playoff game. Yes we were supposed to beat them and it was important we did.

How often do we recruit against Oregon? Regular season games dont mean as much as playoff games. And one of the biggest misconceptions is recruits care about H2H.

You all complain about the playoff hurting the best regular season in sports but then ignore it.

Basically it's put up or shut up time. I don't feel this offense has gelled yet at all on the ground or in the air.....hoping to be pleasantly surprised. 4 hours to kick and I'm already feeling the anxiety.

Huhhhh, I talk about the overall health of the program and your constant crying all the time. Honestly you are thick in the head. Of course most sane folks have an eyebrow raised in a top 10 matchup. 3 point spread and yeah I’m not writing in a W in cement.
Wtf are you actually saying I bet a mortgage payment I don’t have you showed puss behavior and didn’t even post a score prediction lol

Need a statement win tonight. Not only for Allar, but for Franklin. Big wins cannot elude PSU forever.

PSU was able to run on them last year. Love to see it again.

This is true, but you know what he means.

For this single season, the playoff game is obviously more important. But for the overall direction if the program, given all the factors, beating OSU could be the single most impactful thing that could happen.

Then people should stop saying the playoff games weren't more important. Simple concept.

In a single season, yes.

The point is that if you can never beat OSU in the regular season, Penn State will more and more rarely be in position to compete for titles because of perception and recruiting, and that does matter.

I still strongly disagree about recruiting and perception means nothing now that polls don't determine a champion. We go 10-2 we're safely in.
Winning would be great--I'm very hopeful we will and would love it but, if we lose, I'm not going to overreact. Just have to go 7-1 the rest of the way and continue to improve.

It's not "the polls", it is winning and losing and being a dominant program to ayyract the best players. It's not the perception of the pollsters, it's the perception to the country and recruits and transfer portal and staff members we want to join us etc etc.

You can't be a dominant program in the country, conference, or region if you never beat your neighboring rival. Of course you can get into the playoffs at 10-2, but you won't have your best chances at the championship without a dominant program and top notch roster. To get those, you must beat top teams at least on occasion.

It's not though--getting the best players is about paying them and proving you develop guys. Recruits aren't going somewhere else if we lose tonight. That's something fans care about and they pretend recruits do. It's all about "can you get me to the next level"

Ohio State can't beat Michigan right now and just won a title.
