Not a great chance of success elsewhere but there is zero reason to think things will be any better next year if he stays. Very good chance he isn't even the starter if he stays. He needs to go to a school that has a solid O-line. He needs a couple of extra seconds to find 2nd and 3rd receiver options and he is not going to get that here.

He was a classy guy and and doesn't deserve any personal attacks. But the results on the field don't lie. 1 TD to 10 INTS in last 7 games. He is an atrocious football player. He wasn't near the only problem. But he was a problem. I think this is one of the greatest days in this football programs history to be honest. Barker though he hasn't shown it yet. Has a million times more upside than towles and now he's our only choice! Which is a magical thing you all. For anyone to think he was going to come in and play great this season is foolish stoops gave him zero experience thru out the entire season and the first game he decided to the weather conditions were horrible and it just wasn't a game for him to get many chances thru the air.

So he was pretty much thrown into the Louisville game with zero experience as a freshman. Can't really expect much out of that. But now he's going to get that experience. And if the Wrs are forced to work their tails off this off season, the offensive unit should be a lot more productive if stoops even has a lick of coaching ability and player development (which I honestly think he's one of the worst coaches in all of football). But if the line improves at least a little bit (starts with firing schlarman) and if the Wrs start making plays I think barker is going to have a great season next year. He's going to take his lumps in the beginning. But by mid season I think he's going to be a very serviceable qb. Couldn't be more excited about today's news! Now only if we can find a new offensive coordinator with experience and a new offensive line coach. We could have something to look forward to next season!

One of the silliest things I've ever read in my entire life. The only person getting out of the way of Barker is the referee while DBark is walking to the bench after yet another three-and-out.

Sure that ref was just bending over to pick up another flag from a holding call.

I want to thank Patty Ice for his time here. He did some really good things for us and I hope he makes similar to Joe Flacco and becomes an NFL player eventually. Seems like a good kid.

Getting away from the sec alone will enhance any qb's play , this is a mans league . Other conferences just do not harbor the kind a nfl caliber defensive players that the sec has in abundance , here and there there's some but much more sporadic . Towles at Duke will have a much better experience and production while still being the same player .

Nothing against Wailupebob but he posted a few weeks ago about how Towles could transfer and lead an air raid team to
great success. Nothing could be further from the truth. He has a very poor skill set for air raid (not that UK runs a true air raid).

He might be OK as a game manager in a pro-style offense .. sort of like Coker at Bama .. altho it's doubtful his lack of accuracy will translate well to any type offense at a high D1 level. Does anyone know if when he made this announcement, he had that same blank look he always wore after an interception or other bonehead play?

Really, I hope he does well. He was a 'Cat and that counts for something.
