You start Towles and hope he gets his confidence back for next year. I didn't see anything out of Barker that makes me believe he will ever take us bowling. Average skills and overblown numbers out of highschool. He was reported as 6'4, 4.6 speed, with a big arm and none of those are true. He does spin the ball nicely, but he looks outclassed and confused in the games.

Jeremy Johnson started the year at Auburn, had a horrid start, was benched, then ended the year with 4TD's vs 1 INT. You bench a guy, the light will come on!
Towles was benched, missed less than 2 games worth of snaps, came in against Louisville and threw a game icing interception. The bench isn't magic, it doesn't make poor QB's good. I can give a guy like Johnson (pre-season Heisman hype) time to collect himself and re-focus though. Johnson's issues and Towles' are not the same.

Are you saying Jeremy Johnson is better than Towles?

No 5 - 7 for UK because they will choose these teams based on APR and ours unfortunately is down the list of the 5 - 7 teams.

Seriously...now that Towles is gone, the 15 extra practices for a bowl would be a good thing for Barker. I'm not a fan at all of all these minor bowls. 6 wins to me is a very mediocre season and doesn't deserve a bowl game...but that's just me. But when you're down to a totally unproven QB who looked bad when he got the chance....the extra practice could really help.

The NCAA has said it applies to the top 5 APR teams (Wisconsin, Northwestern, Duke, Michigan, Staford). There's still talk and negotiation on how it will all play out, but I feel real, real confident saying San Jose State isn't going to Detroit. NCAA has given themselves a lot of flexibility in the way they're addressing the APR to allow the bowls and sponsors to have more say than taking the top 5.

unfortunately, this whole pathetic situation is gonna call for a lot more conversation and planning in the offseason, cause I see there needing to be a pecking order going forward, there's gonna be 2+ garbage teams in a bowl every year. It's gotta be a system that's fair to the garbage teams but also gives the bowls a chance to turn a profit.

I was responding to a poster who asked about Auburn's QB situation. Nothing to do about the guy who just quit here.

I'd like to see KY go to a bowl just because it gives them another opportunity to get some momentum going into the off season.
