Why not throw a Lincoln school a bone? Trae would draw in so me other kids.
It's definitely a character flaw and poor judgement if Rhule thought living in Lincoln, but driving all the way to Millard South was the optimal choice. I mean, it's not even an acceptable choice. Let alone the best one. And it is a very unpopular choice among anyone who gives two ***** about Nebraska HS football. People will lose respect for Rhule. There's no tangible evidence in my view to suggest that Millard South's staff would develop the kid (in the short term) better than Ryan Gottula at SE or Gingery at East. And there's no evidence that Millard South is a better school overall. Hell, Trae could go to Lincoln Standing Bear. They are getting better every year and run a pretty dynamic offense. Every Friday would be a challenge though and that doesn't sound like that is what they want.

The only thing going for Trae driving all the way to Millard South would be the selling point of "Hey, a few games will feel like a scrimmage against your JV. But most games will be like playing against a .500 freshmen team. It'll be easy street, Dude. No competing all year!"

Because coaching, program, and offensive system matters to a QB.
Really? He'll be there for six months. You think that staff is gonna make a huge difference in that time compared to some of the other excellent coaching staffs in the state? He will trot out there. Be told how great he is. Be ahead by sixty at halftime of every game if they wish.

It's like the MS coach driving a top fuel dragster and beating a Honda Civic in a quarter mile and thinking that it was his driving that made a difference. There are a lot of staffs that would do quite well with that all star team.

He will recruit the pther players at Millard South who may go to places like Bama.....
That's the #1 reason for MR.
He will be exponentially more familiar with Lincoln as a Freshman.
That's the #1 reason for the kid and his family.

Don't waste your time... these people are 10 toes over the ledge. Some of the comments are so far from grounded in fact they are in danger of floating off into space. The level of vitriol over some of this stuff is so over the top that they can't even see it for what it is. They are too far gone.

People complaining about the distance and time of commute have never lived anywhere with real commutes. 45 minutes to an hour drive each way is fairly normal in bigger cities. I would bet the drive from Lincoln to Omaha is far less hectic than the Taylors are used to getting to Carmel Catholic from where they lived.

As far as where he goes to school goes, what difference does it make? They made a choice to move to Nebraska to be closer to the program, so he can visit the university whenever he can. If people want neighborhood kids representing the neighborhood school then change the rules so that is the case. But if a school has open enrollment and anyone can go there, there is nothing to really complain about. He could just as easily gone to Prep or Skutt.

I don't know where they live in Chicago but you are right. 45 minutes is not that big of a deal.
I don't know the Millard South bell schedule but I am guessing he will leave around 630 and get to MS around 730.

That just doesn't seem like all that big of a deal. And it is probably just for the first semester.

Really? Maybe somebody should ask him why Coach Rhule to him to go there and not 10 other high schools closer to him.

I honestly don't know, but does Lincoln have open enrollment? I now Millard does and I know OPS has some version of it. There are a lot of factors as far as where the Taylors are going to live if LPS doesn't have open enrollment.

I can just about guarantee you it has more to do with him being able to peer recruit MS and less to do with his actual development as a player.
I don’t think that has anything to do with it. Only one player from Millard South was offered last year. There are no other current players on the roster with offers from Nebraska.

Becasue there are other D1 recruits there, 10 plus. He can help tecruit them and get the foothold back in Oma h a..... why so angry and dense to the facts?

I don't pretend to know much about it, but seems to be some conflicting takes on this.

Everyone has open enrollment. Personally, I think it's nice that he's moving to Nebraska. But it's a bad look, and pretty odd, to move to Lincoln and then enroll at Millard South. Are their Lincoln kids who play at Millard South? Yep. They get the best young kids from all over the place. But to plan on moving to Lincoln and then go to MS is weird and it makes it seem like Trae was either recruited by MS, placed their by NU's staff or the kid doesn't want to compete during his senior year.

FWIW, the logical choice for residency and purchasing a home for the Taylor family is to move to Lincoln and commute to MS for the fall semester. Since the parents are moving as well, then they have their residence in Lincoln for the next 3-4 years after that while Trae is at UNL. The residency & commute issue is not that big of a deal. Enrolling in MS is a different story, but not the residency.

Trust me, enrollment at MS is not a problem…ever.
