That's fine. O Igbo and hopefully Wilbon will be just fine. We shouldn't be running it vs Wisky much anyways. Their front 7 is their strength so pass deep.

He's been out a long time for someone who didn't have much of an injury. I've been hoping we were just saving him for Wisconsin but now...oof. The offensive line better bring their lunch pails on Saturday if we are going to have any running game at all.

No one said he didn't have an injury. They said it wasn't a new injury. It's the same bum knee he's had.

Right but "bum knee" isn't a diagnosis and doesn't tell us anything. There aren't a whole lot of chronic injuries in the knee that flair up and keep you out for 3 or 4 weeks. I guess my point was that they made it seem like it wasn't a big deal, and it still may not be medically but is a big deal to the team and the season when he misses a month

Wilbon has a sprained ankle. Looking like we're down to Ozigbo and Jaylin Bradley. Hell, Wyatt Mazour might get a snap or two. Also, Luke McNitt watch alert for Saturday.

The term chronic means for a long time or constantly returning. So I guess I would say it will hurt him until he gets it repaired surgically, if that is possible.

Ddint Riley say Bryant has knees that are much older than he is..sounds like this is a long term deal...Maybe take a medical hardship and call it a career

I won't be surprised if Tre Bryant's career is over. When somebody says he has an "old knee" that sounds a little too much like a chronic arthritis situation from either repeated injury or an injury that wasn't handled properly early on. Bad deal.

That would be a shame, kid is pretty talented.

they had to know this when he was recruited---but, i don't remember this condition being mentioned till it recently flared up. looks like they may have taken a gamble and appears the huskers may have lost. i do remember hearing coach riley stating bryant has knees much older than tre is.

Riley and staff lied to us about Bryant it seems. They tried to make it no big deal and just an annoyance, rather than something significant.

I sure hope Bryant makes a full recovery. He has a bright future if healthy. Can see him playing on Sundays.

That said, we better not start making excuses. We knew he had "old knees". Every team and coaching staff deals with injuries.

Joints are funky things. You might think the arthritic inflammation will clear up and then it just hangs on. It might not even be the result of a tear or other damage. I say all that because I doubt they lied about it. Bo would do that nonsense all the time, but I don't see that in Riley.

Um no I don't think so. They knew in camp this year that he was having some issues with a sore knee and I suspect they finally either had an MRI done or a scope and the docs found more pathology than they expected. 20 some years ago I had big time positive drawer sign in my left knee and swelling. MRI showed a likely ACL tear but there was so much fibrin and scar tissue that they couldn't be sure it was complete. Had a spinal because I wanted my friend to let me watch the scope and be involved in the decision on what to do. Got in there and after about 15 minutes of debridement we could see I still had about 1/4th of my ACL. Not much but he convinced me that at my age I shouldn't have it done. I played full court basketball for several years after that and have done lots of extremely strenuous high impact hiking, backpacking etc with no problems with that knee. SO you don't always know what a knee is like inside until you get in there and look.

I currently live next to the Sam Gabriel National forest. We are thinking about leaving crazy SoCal and moving back to Nebraska. The only thing I will really really miss about SoCal is walking out my front door and hiking in the foothills/mountains. Or driving a few hours and doing the Sierra hikes. Nebraska is pretty flat.

All depends on where you live in Nebraska. You could live up in the Devil's Nest and hike a different deer path every day. Just have to be wary of the Mt. Lions. Beautiful views of Lewis and Clark Lake. Lots of wildlife. Personally IF I could live where I could hike every day (weather permitting) I would probably live out near Buffalo WY. Beautiful Cloud Peak Wilderness and no grizzlies (well there's been a few and the local ranchers practiced the Code of the West supposedly. Shoot, shovel and shut up). At least that's what a NPS ranger told me a decade or so ago. Took a group out to RMNP last year. Beautiful vistas but man there's a lot of people banging around. Didn't take a trip this year. No excuse to do it and too busy with some building projects that are a little bit time and weather sensitive. IF I really have to get a hiking fix I take off across one of my pastures on foot and check out wildflowers and meadowlarks.

This is why I don't get the whole we don't need to take a RB or QB every class mentality.

You bring one of each in on scholarship . EVERY year.

Imagine if they didn't ultimately decide to take Bradley at the end of last years cycle when they origionally weren't taking a back?

As long as he holds on to the ball. He has fumble issues and turnovers are going to be hard to overcome verse Wisconsin.
I'm ok with a 1 to 3 ratio on fumbles, meaning for every 3 touchdowns a back can have a fumble.

Exactly. I think to start out we had 16 scholarships. Now we have 18+. The first 2 to open up should be qb and rb. Not taking a qb this year to get a certain qb next year is ridiculous. The only way that makes a little sense is if that qb was already committed.

Yes. And the quarterback should be able to run the triple option if needed - just in case. Lol.

Did we ever stop recruiting RBs? If so, why is Pledger coming in this weekend?

But it is recruiting, correct? I’m just wondering why people are saying we are not recruiting a running back…
The chances of flipping a recruit are very low. What other plan do we have at running back?

I’m not the recruiting expert here, so I couldn’t tell you. I seem to recall Avery Roberts’ brother would come if offered, another name is out there I think as well, I just don’t remember the name...

A little help from the board experts? Either give some names or tell me I’m wrong... either might be true.

When I saw him re-injure his knee against the Ducks I was fairly certain that he may be out for the year. How there was no ligament tears is beyond me. It was a very awkward looking landing.

I don't believe Roberts brother is an option. I believe he will be headed to a juco, if I heard correctly.

As far as recruiting a QB and/or a RB in this class, I think that the Huskers are keeping their options open to taking one or the other this year. I know they have some guys they keep in touch with just in case. They don't want to take someone just to take someone. It's a long ways to signing day. A lot can happen between now and then. BTW, Corral is not an option as he has solidified his commitment to Florida. Although there are rumors that he may visit LSU soon. So who knows.
