Just called DirecTV to see if the Troy game would be part of Gameplan. Right now, it does not show in their system. They told me to call back Wednesday evening to see if the system has updated.

If the game is available, the cost will be $24.99 for one day of Gameplan.

Just saying!

The Troy game is only on ESPN3. You won't be able to get it on Pay Per View. You can hook whatever device connects to ESPN3 up to the TV to watch it on TV but that is the only way I believe.

I will be in new Orleans with the wife and kid. Just got an I pad. Is the watch espn app what I need? Would it be any possibility the game could be turned on in a bar with gameplan?

If it's blacked out in your area, it doesn't matter. I had the watchespn app up for the JSU game, but it was blacked out in Texas, so I didn't get it.

I can't tell if you are serious but the way I understand it - the game won't be blacked out anywhere.

The answer is easy but not so easy in reality.... anyone who has one of the approved ISP's can stream said game and let others know where the game is being streamed. But given the nature of today's interwebs said person could also have problems unless they know how to properly hide their tracks. I for one would be happy to do this but I unfortunately live outside the U.S. and therefore cannot help.

For anyone living outside the U.S., or with the ability to change your I.P. address to a foreign location you can use the site espnplayer.com and the game will be available for a fee here. This is another solution to those with ESPN3 access issues. I for one use a product called proXPN to give me a U.S. location for my I.P. address to access sites like Hulu, etc... by subscribing to the full version of proXPN I can also make my I.P. address from one of many countries. Give these combination of things a try if you are desperate to watch the game and not able to due to ESPN3's restrictions of ISP's on the list.

What I cannot understand is how ESPN3 is not available for purchase yet.

I have AT&T DSL (that sucks), and when I try to go To watchespn my only choice is the different tv providers. I should be able to register. What idiot move am I making?

ESPN3 is accessible based on your Internet Service Provider. Here's a full list of those: http://espn.go.com/espn3/affList

If you use one of those providers, then you will be able to watch this week's game against Troy either through your computer or on your XBox or whatever other apparati can do ESPN3.

WatchESPN is accessible based on your Television Provider and television package. Here's a full list of those: Time Warner, Verizon FiOS TV, Bright House, Midcontinent, and Xfinity/Comcast. It's also the only one of the two that offers an iOS app.

ESPN changed their policy regarding ESPN3 this year. Previously, the only games that were blacked out on ESPN3 were the FSN SEC games within the SEC footprint.

This year, games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, the weekly FSN SEC game (and maybe the 12:21 SEC Network game) will be blacked out on ESPN3 in areas of the country where that's the game being shown on a live ESPN channel. For example, since interest in Ole Miss vs Central Arkansas was so small, the areas where that game was actually carried live on a primary ESPN network were few and far between. This gave more of the country access to the game. Conversely, Clemson-Auburn was blacked out almost everywhere. Count on your Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday games being blacked out on ESPN3 each week too.

Also, this is the first year they're going to have exclusive ESPN3 games, which means the ONLY way to watch it is by having ESPN3 (or buying it through Gameplan). For those of us in Texas, this has been the norm for us for a long time.

Last week's game vs Jackson State was blacked out in the SEC footprint because it was the FSN game.

If you want to watch the game being played on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU somewhere other than a TV with access to ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU, you'll need a television provider that offers WatchESPN or use a service like playon.tv and get the FirstRowSports.eu plugin.

Hope that helps.

ATT DSL will only get you access to games on Espn3. There are now ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU games mixed in - to watch those you have to have TV Service with one of the listed providers.

ESPN doesn't want you to pay for it, they want your service provider to pay for ALL of their customers to have it. The best way to accomplish that goal is to have you complain or leave your provider because you can't get ESPN3. ESPN ain't dumb.
