It's trying to predict the future not the past, using efficiency and also four factor stats. For these teams it's pretty consistent with other predictive systems e.g. Kenpom has Ohio St #27 and Bart has them #25 and UConn is #6 and #7 in those systems respectively.

Generally it's because they lost close games and won by comfortable margins, UConn also has big wins in the non-conference to fall back on (and by big margins as well)
