We’re in a regional. Treat this like the exhibition that it is. Midweek pitching on Tuesday. And really even Wednesday. Give Pico a week off & see if it helps.
I was just typing this. I don’t want to see weekend starters unless we are playing on Thursday.

Not only are we in, we could win the damn thing and still not host.

Foster needs to pitch Tuesday or Wednesday if we get there. just to get a taste of postseason. The staff has been careful with him, but he is a SEC weekend starter if he is healthy.

Nothing would make me feel better than to see A&M get knocked out. They need three wins.

Let's give it everything we have to win it all. I'm sure the top seeds are blowing it off and ready to get to their Regional...we would in that situation. Maybe we can steal an SEC tourney title.

Hoover (in most years including this one) is one of those things where you don’t really care if you lose early but if you do happen to win enough to make it to the weekend it’s kinda cool.

The single elimination format makes it to where you don’t have to break your back trying to climb back from the loser’s bracket or anything. In theory if we won Tuesday and Wednesday with a committee approach, we get Thursday off and potentially have our normal weekend rotation lined up for the last 3 rounds.

I’m not gonna pretend it wasn’t fun when I watched us win in 2012 or 2005 or 2001. I’m cool with seeing it happen again. Been over a decade since we’ve done anything of substance in Hoover.

1. We’re not winning 5 games in 6 days vs good SEC teams. We won’t be playing Missouri & Kentucky here.
2 it wouldn’t matter if we did win it. Nobody cares.
3. smart play is to get ready for the regional.

You are probably 99% correct BUT

1. I know it's pro ball, but I never thought the beat down injury plagued Rangers could go 11-0 on the road on their way to their first WS title in '23. Beginning with losing the division in CA on the last day of the season and immediately flying over DFW across the country to FL as a wild card....so S happens.

2. We've only won the SEC conference tourney 7 times and not since 2012 so that would be cool and something I'd care about.

3. Every day players rarely want days off especially hitters but I do see the angle from a rotation and bullpen perspective.

Our only National Title year we treated Hoover exactly as it should be treated: as glorified practice.

Yep, but we knew that team had a chance to make some real noise in the NCAA tournament. This team could be gone in 2 games in the Regionals or they could win a Regional. I'm just saying leave it all out there when other teams don't necessarily have that same attitude and see if we can take advantage of it.

I could be 💯 wrong but I think winning the SEC tourney for this team would give us the confidence and momentum to go further in the NCAA vs laying down like we are loaded and don't have time to be bothered with the lowly SEC tourney.

Fair enough. This team definitely isn't that team.

The '21 team didn't necessarily rest starters, unless there was worry of injury, but if I recall correctly, had hard pitch counts. They definitely tried, but also weren't overly worried about it.

Agree on #3. Baseball is a sport meant to be played pretty much every day. And normally I think even with pitchers, the rest between the SEC tournament & the regionals is plenty but Pico in particular has faded in his last few starts. Wouldn’t hurt to give him a week off & see if it helps. I’d be perfectly fine with starting Siarry Wednesday or Friday if we get there.

I never want to lose, but if there ever was a case that says losing is a win this is it.

So, we play A&M in the late late game?
Be careful everyone traveling Highway 82 to Hoover. Road Construction about 2 miles out of Reform. Probably won't slow you down but might be easier to give you a ticket. Also some other construction East of Gordo. Looks like they are moving some on the bypass around Gordo.

There's been road construction on 82 around Reform and Gordo since I was a student at State back in the 80's. I'm 60 and I don't think I'll live long enough to see 82 four lanes from the state line to Northport.

Alabama eliminates Missouri. The Tigers will just have to sweat out the selection show on Monday.
So I was listening to the interview with the Mark Etheridge from D1Baseball with @Brian Hadad and one of them said Missouri held out their top 2 pitchers vs State. Makes no sense.

Further research states that they did this b/c that approach was their only chance of winning the conference tournament. Still don't get it.

Tennessee gets Bama tomorrow. Bama already guaranteed a host bid. If Tennessee isn’t hosting already, it’s going to be really hard to deny them with yet another Quad 1 win over a current host team.

And assuming Florida beats South Carolina, the subsequent Florida / Ole Miss matchup may be a hosting elimination game.

Yeah. If you’re trying to win it, why pitch your 2 best pitchers against the 9 and 8 seeds. Save them for the weekend. Don’t think it would have mattered much who they pitched against us though.

I think Kentuckys loss today probably ends their chances of getting a bid. SEC with 12 teams in the tournament.
