This offseason coaching carousel will be one of the more intruiging ones in many years. Ohio State and Penn State maybe go after big fish, some smaller schools like Tulane may go after the ex-coaches needing rehab, and mid-range programs will be looking for the next up and comer.
I think the big question I'm interested in is does anyone touch Leach?

job security and comfortable salary, even if with a 2nd tier program in a 2nd tier conference. All in all, after the beating he took in Ann Arbor, New Orleans might look pretty good to him.

Plus, every so often, he gets a chance to knock off a SEC team.

My $ is on Tulane.

OM needs an up-n-comer. My suggestion to the Manning brain trust: Neal Brown, Texas Tech OC

Rich Rod was OC there in '97 & '98 with Bowden. '98 was the year they went undefeated. They know him so there may be something to this.

When Bowden left for Clemson after the 12-0 season, Tulane passed over RR and offered Chris Scelfo from Georgia (and a Louisiana native) instead. That worked out well.

would stay at Tulane and didn't believe Richrod would...maybe he'd stay awhile..while he rehabs.

If last year's Gator Bowl is any indication then I am all for it. If he can't beat us with Denard Robinson he damn sure ain't gonna do it with Randall Mackey or Zack Stoudt.

Upon further review, my previous ruling is overturned. Rich Rod will decline a second consecutive improbable rebuilding job (at Ole Miss) and resume coaching at Tulane. First down.

Not sure what happened at Michigan, but he didn't seem to fit in there. But he's pretty good ... not sure we'd want him at Ole Miss.<div>
</div><div>One thing ... he's not from the South, and I suspect that OM is hard over on hiring a Southern coach.</div>

I'd prefer to hire someone from outside the "system" with an unconventional offensive scheme. We're never going to be able to compete with the big boys in the SEC at their own game. We'll never recruit like them, we'll never be able to run the same smash mouth schemes like them and we'll never have the ability to line up face to face and compete. We need a coach with a gimmick (for lack of a better word) who can out smart, out plan, out adjust and out scheme a better, more talented team every now and then.

Leach and Rich Rod fit that mold. I'm not expecting to beat the big boys year in and year out. I want to beat Vandy, UK and State every year. I want to split 50/50 with Arky, USCe, UT (for now) and UGA (for now), and I want to beat the rest once every 2 to 5 years. That way, we'll be competitive with everyone. Once in a while, the stars will align where we get a couple special players who contribute in big ways to a couple huge upsets while also keeping us from losing to teams we should have beaten (see USCe, Aub and State from 09).

If our search committee 17s up and goes after some damned OM tied/southern system boner hire, I'll personally show up at Archies door in the Garden District after eating an entire 5gallon jug of pickled jalapenos, drop my drawers and blast that +!$%*$% shoes the second he opens the door. He and Glenn had best not 17 this up.
