Good hire/bad hire I don't know anything about the guy. What you got? Seems like we could do better than this. Tupelo is probably the biggest school in the state and has a campus/facilities better than most Jr. Colleges. There is some tough competition in the division but Tupelo hasn't been competitive as of late.

Actually, it's a very good hire.....He's a heck'uva football coach and won a

State championship while at Franklin County. To do what he did at Amory after the dumpster fire that Pat Byrd left it in is amazing. He's always been a run first coach but he made Amory into a 5 wide out offense and was very successful with it. He fitted the scheme around the players that he had. He's also a very likeable guy and should do well at Tupelo.

I've known him most of my adult life. Great coach. Good guy. He is a former Reb fan, now an LSU fan that has great disdain for State.

ETA: I don't think he would stand in the way of one his players signing with us though. When it came down to it he would do what's best for his player.

That's good to hear. The current administration has made several key hires from Amory. Just kinda makes you go Hmmm. Tupelo hasn't had much D1 talent in football. Shumpert left and we all know how Garrett worked out. The baseball program is still solid.

He definately did NOT win a state championship at Franklin. That was Grady McClusky. He did coach at Franklin after McClusky left, but was mediocre. In my eyes it's a very underwhelming hire for Tupelo. I can't see him lasting very long.
