Tupelo up 7-0 in the 8th and Woodruff has two hits and throwing a one hitter. Pretty damn impressive.

I'm assuming not Dixie Majors if they're playing teams from places like MN.

with Brandon Woodruff, Will Cox and Tanner Gaines added to them.

And William Goss was also drafted by the Padres.

I hope they win the thing.

in Mississippi.

Mooreville has one of the best high school baseball program in the state- which is remarkable considering their size and the fact that they never seem to have any D-I type prospects. THAT is a team that truly has a good baseball coach.

but had to be late 80s/early 90s. I'll say 1989 and 32 wins-- he had an ungodly number it seemed like.

New Hope in 1995 or 1996 with almost 40 wins (I know they went undefeated). Not sure what that has to do with Mooreville though, unless Hester is from there.

Hester is from Greenville. You are close- 43 in 1996. Had to look that one up, it was bothering me.

and it was Randolph Salters. He also had 366 K's, made 24 starts and had 24 complete games. He appeared in a total of 28 games that year, so he also made four relief appearances.

By the time he finished HS and went to Jackson State to pitch, his arm was dead.....He threw very hard, very hard and was physically imposing....Built like and threw like JR Richards......Look at the stats in Todd's answer.....Now you know what I meant about Berryman ruining him.......</p>

So we're arguing one particular kid owns this, and then another team 9collectively combined to also take credit for this.

As a TEAM, I see New Hope in 96 as winners. Don't know about one person's personal season.

not wins as a team.

Although Shane Bazzell and Jeff Hunter got their share of abuse on that 96 New Hope team.

based on the individual and I'm not a 120 hard pitch count guy at all- but yeah- that's definately a case of abusing a pitcher.

That's how Mississippi was back in the day though- you could also throw Ronnie Richardson from Columbus in there, I already mentioned Bazzell, Kirk Presley from Tupelo- although, urban legend is that he was ruined from pitching in American Legion baseball of all things, and kind of ironically he is coaching the team that once ruined his arm. And then many, many others that I probably couldn't list because of space.

You would hear stuff about guys throwing 165 pitches or something in game one of a doubleheader and then coming back in the second game to get the save- and I'm talking a two-three inning save here.

Tupelo's first loss was tonight in Game 13 of the tournament. Looking at the bracket by losing they advance to the championship game 15. Had they won they would have had to play in Game 14 and win to advance to the championship game. This doesn't make sense. Can someone with more baseball knowledge than me explain the logic of the bracket. I guess the smart thing for Tupelo to do or did was not use any of your good pitchers in Game 13 lose and save your pitching for the championship game.

Tupelo was the last remaining undefeated team and because of that, had they won, they would have had two games (games 14 & 15) to win one against Las Vegas.

Since they lost game 13 and it was their 1st loss, they move on to game 15 in a winner takes all against the game 14 winner.

Gotcha it was a bracketology fail on my part. Does Tupelo have any pitching left for the championship game? I watched part of the game starting with the 5th inning when they were up 4-2. After the 5th the pitchers were getting hammered.

I did notice that he took Woodruff out early in the game. That makes me think that he is going to use him against Las Vegas. Will Cox would be the most rested, and he pitched well and beat Las Vegas in game one.

If it were me, I would go with Woodruff for maybe three, Cox for two or three, and then maybe Gaines and then whoever the best closer that they have is.

They were just saving their best for tomorrow night. I think they are in a good place. They have Hudspeth and Cox, both could start. Gaines and Woodruff probably have enough for 3 innings.

five innings out of him, they're in good shape..........Then you'd have Gaines and Woodruff............
