and the first thing I hear is a former Alabama quarterback announcer saying a pass interference should have been called on LSU.

The former State players bring the curse to LSU. They sabotage every opportunity.

Van Buren getting a lot of playing time. He’s had some great plays followed up by boneheaded mistakes. Much like his time here.

He has some promise though.

Van Buren sliding cost lsu a 1st down.
I had no clue until that play that they mark a sliding QB down “where is hips start to dip” and not where a part of his body hits the ground. That’s kind of a BS rule IMO…

Is that trying to prevent “fake” slides? I didn’t know the rule either until seeing it last night.

I assume at that point the defense is unable to legally make contact to stop forward progress, so makes sense. He traveled a long way once he dipped before he made contact with the ground, so defense couldn’t stop him from traveling beyond the 1st down line.

I agree. I think it should be TD logic, if the ball breaks the plane, it counts regardless of “dipping hips”. As long as no major points are in contact with the ground, ball breaking plane should drive the call.
