I had no clue until that play that they mark a sliding QB down “where is hips start to dip” and not where a part of his body hits the ground. That’s kind of a BS rule IMO…Van Buren sliding cost lsu a 1st down.
Is that trying to prevent “fake” slides? I didn’t know the rule either until seeing it last night.I had no clue until that play that they mark a sliding QB down “where is hips start to dip” and not where a part of his body hits the ground. That’s kind of a BS rule IMO…
I assume at that point the defense is unable to legally make contact to stop forward progress, so makes sense. He traveled a long way once he dipped before he made contact with the ground, so defense couldn’t stop him from traveling beyond the 1st down line.I had no clue until that play that they mark a sliding QB down “where is hips start to dip” and not where a part of his body hits the ground. I agree. I think it should be TD logic, if the ball breaks the plane, it counts regardless of “dipping hips”. As long as no major points are in contact with the ground, ball breaking plane should drive the call.I had no clue until that play that they mark a sliding QB down “where is hips start to dip” and not where a part of his body hits the ground. The "Kenny Pickett Rule" as I call it.I had no clue until that play that they mark a sliding QB down “where is hips start to dip” and not where a part of his body hits the ground. That’s kind of a BS rule IMO…
