What individual associated with your football program embarrasses you most? Can be a player or a coach from any time.<div>
</div><div>My vote(s) go to Mike Dubose, Keith McCants (who I actually knew), and Spree... Mike Price & should get some consideration, as well....</div><div>

despise both of them.

ETA: I didn't hate Croom as a person. I hated his coaching. His coaching abilityreally didmakeme embarrassed to be a State fan when he was here. That's why I named him. However, Dontae Walker, I hated him. He can rot in hell for all I care.

Edit to say - I guess you could say his football coaching embarrassed you but he was a great representative of Mississippi State.

His crooked hat was very embarassing for the University. As were all of the clips showing his fatass riding around in a golfcart.

The national media loved the guy, and everyone on here knows damn well that they were proud to be a State fan after ESPN did the segment on him and other black coaches.

I can't stand the guy as a coach, but he was a good representative of MSU.

Crooms for hisridiculously poorcoaching to his idiotic speeches...he and Stansbury both need an English refresher course...hearing people I knew from other schools making fun of him just got me to the point where I wouldnt even wear maroon.

Wisner for the day he got penalized during a game, then threw his helmet, got kicked out, then flipped off the fans that booed him...that was absolutely ridiculous

Maybe I should have elaborated. But Croom's posture, demeanor, and attitude -most times- were infact an embarrasement, at least from an internal perspective. Outside the realm of his team, I saw no interest in Croom for the university. He seemed dettached and unwilling to become a leader and focal point for the community and college. Football seemed to be his only care, and he still infact didn't succeed at that. Now for those who say national media outlets and the world wide leader in sports love Croom....we'll I'm here to tell you, none of them knew Croom for no more than what got him attention when he was first hired here. All they saw was a good headline on the book, they didn't take the time to read the pages inside.</p>

You are a pathetic person if you let who coaches State make you not want to wear maroon.

I know Croom wasn't loved internally but as a representative of Mississippi State nationally - he was outstanding.

he really was a good guy. But he just kept saying stupid thing after thing. For starters, ESPN was here for the Spring Game- he is being interviewed, and he calls a shovel pass a "trick play"...the crooked hat, hoodie, and stuff he would say gave people so much to laugh at ....people wouldnt even talk **** to me anymore- they just felt sorry for me for having him as our coach- thats the worst it had ever been in my 40 years as a fan

Croom was a 1st class representative of MSU. But what he did to the program was embarrassing.

Single most embarrassing moment at DWS was seeing Dontae Walker literally get booed off the field on senior day. I know he totally pissed away what should have been an All-American career. But dude...booed off the field, as a senior, on senior day? That's just SAD.

Outside of the occasional ESPN story (and by occasional, I mean the 2 or 3 I saw in 5 years), how did he represent MSU nationally that was so wonderful?

a short time after Croom was hired it became very apparent why he was hired and that we had made a huge mistake. I thought then and I think now it made us look very shallow. I`m still embarrassed by the whole thing.

was that he didn't care what the fans thought after he lost to Tulane.

But in DS's defense- Croom was actually a better coach than Felker, who was/is universally loved. Maybe because Rockey is one of our own- I don't know.

For keeping Jackie after the 2002 season and then hiring a totally incompetent NFL position coach to run an SEC program. Then not knowing how in over his head the Walrus was.

I thought it was kind of dumb when he said he would never fire anyone on his staff. He kind of recanted that remark later after he realized how asinine it was.

and that also showed how clueless he was as a game time coach, was when he explained why he went for it on 4th and long but then punted on 4th and 1 during the 3-2 Auburn circus. His explanation made absolutely NO goddamn sense at all and showed that he had NO goddamn clue about what was going on. He proved with that explanation that he made decisions entirely on a whim without any logic behind them what-so-ever.<div>
</div><div>I would say Croom was more of an inward embarassment to knowledgeable State fans. Other fans didn't and still don't realize how bad of a coach he was just because State has always sucked. They just looked at us as continuing the losing tradition of MS State, without analyzing the ridiculous things Croom did as a coach.</div>

was such an embarrassment. His horrendous ***** style of offense and game management led us to so many TERRIBLE losses. He lost to 17ing Maine!!!! Tulane, UAB, Houston, Louisiana Tech and Dooley, Troy (I think). Repeated blow outs by LSU, Florida, and Ole Miss. Then to have the arrogance to act like the entire fan base was a bunch of idiots and they had no idea about football was the kicker. His qb's could not drop back and complete a simple slant route. It was always a roll out or a play action pass. 17ing embarrassing coach Croom was.

Bob Davie to a national TV audience on ESPN- while our offense is having another pitiful performance- "Sylvester Croom told me he would retire before he switch to the Spread offense"

That was him in a nutshell- he'd rather retire than switch to something that works
