I'd much rather have Bumphis than Russell at this point...
I've not seen enough from Russell to take him over AJ, and the data certainly wouldn't support that move for me.

It isn't the number - it is when and where those penalties occur that can have a disproportionate impact on the game.
AJ is a complete tool and even Saban would acknowledge that fact.
You can say MSU hasn't been tested but AJ hasn't hardly been touched all season. Everytime he gets hit when running the ball he gets up and cries to the nearest ref like a little *****.
I'd take Russell and his arm any day.

Since 1998, Bama has beaten State by 14 or more points, 8 times. State has won or lost by 14 or less, 6 times.
In the 8 games where Alabama won easily, Bama was flagged a total of 54 times compared to State's 51 penalties. Pretty close.
In the 6 games where State either won or played relatively close (lost by 13 or less), Bama was flagged 37 times compared to State's 62 penalties.
So it looks like over the past 14 years when Bama needs help, they get help.

Because of that check, Alabama can offer many more varsity sports than MSU can. Y'all do a pretty good job of doing things with it you otherwise wouldn't be able to do.
And if it were truly welfare, we'd get the majority of it. Revenue sharing is part of being a member of a conference. But by all means, go on acting like Alabama funds the rest of the SEC football programs and is the only thing that keeps the scummy, poverty stricken 13 other universities afloat.

Someone hasn't watched much Alabama football this season. That OL has underperformed bigtime in pass blocking relative to what they were supposed to be. Middle of the SEC pack. McCarron has been sacked 15 times compared to Russell's 6 times(and Bray's 3 times).
