They were clearly mocking NJ and ridiculing the program. I've driven through Indiana twice the last time being in 1992. The landscape and back country looked beautiful but my girlfriend at the time quickly pointed out that being raised in a state like Indiana would be a slow and torturous death for any northeastern kid. For the most part it's poor and with very little to do!!
Shame on you. Indiana has a lively party scene, chock full of hog branding, livestock butchering, corn husking, and making fun of people from Kentucky -- the one state they fell they are allowed to mock. I went to grad school there, I know from where I speak. It's several thousand square miles of Petticoat Junction, a dash of Hooterville and a slice of Mayberry without the pretty cast. Plus Gary and Terre Haute.
