Two Duke insiders put in a CB for Dylan to RU

One thing Dylan and Ace should consider (and maybe already are considering) would be the NIL opportunities in perpetuity that an impactful season at the RAC would give them. In the words of Dickie V when he was recruiting Phil Sellers, “We’ve never had a player like you.” And Dylan and Ace are likely to be lottery picks in the NBA draft while Sellers was a “tweener“ and struggled to make an impact at the next level.
And those same opportunities only occur at Rutgers?

Other thing to consider schools like Michigan State, Kentucky and Duke have classes like we may have and it doesn't always translate to success.

It is possible, but if that was going to happen, why has it not happened yet? It is not like they are two under the radar players who are just being identified as top prospects.
Still very early....Look at slope of the NIL line....still pretty steep. It will get worse (better for the players)

Yeah, nothing is guaranteed in college sports recruiting these days. Its all good momentum for Rutgers, and its amazing we are at this point, getting the #2 recruit to verbally commit and the #1 potentially.

But, until they are signed, can't get too excited, unfortunately.

Signing day is November so in reality a commitment starts the final countdown

Way back when we played at BC in conference play, we would put CB radios in the two cars going up, to communicate
It was a lot more fun than using cellphones.

Let me know when the chicken egg’s hatch. This is 2023. In 2023 someone can come along and offer 5,000,000 each for Bailey and Harper to come as a package to another school and there is nothing we can do about it.
Why the sour face all the time?

How is it very early? Do you think schools are holding off giving their best offers for two of the very top recruits in the class? I know that Dylan has hired a NIL agent, I have to believe that his NIL opportunities have been fully vetted.

It's not the schools...it is entities and individuals.

I honestly don't care either way if these 2 come. I am not convinced one and dones really help the program.

I am just a realist and look at things from all angles.
Realistically, it's impossible to have commitments from the #1 and #2 HS players and think that's anything other than GREAT.

If you'd rather have under-the-radar 3 stars and think that's a more realistic path to winning, I don't have the words for that, but it's certainly not being a realist.

Our program is built on defense.

Ohio State freshman went in 1st round. He didn’t move the needle for him team from a win loss perspective

I watch a few HS games from Dylan Harper. His intensity from a defensive standpoint is not going to cut it. Pike gets people to play defense. He has never had to work with one and dones before. May work out, but it also may not.

I honestly don’t think it is a slam dunk we have Ace, Dylan and GG and we automatically make the NCAA tournament.

Of course not, but it’s bigger than that. One and dones will help recruiting for years to come.

For once in your life, enjoy the view. You don't get many opportunities like this.

Yep ,very true. Lots of these one and done teams are messes. Plus, there is a large faction on this board that still think kids go to class and care about academics. I wonder how they are going to react to having kids that are not gonna bother with that.

With that said, you gotta take these guys . It’s great

How do you know that? Do you not believe Ace and Dylan already have very high NIL offers from schools? Somehow, someway Rutgers is firmly in the NIL game for basketball.

Well if thats your view, signing doesnt mean anything either. Kids can transfer whenever they want to.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 4 years. Trust me. I already got the opportunity. We would have made the NCAAs 3 staright years and last year we had our best team until Mag went down.

It is possible, but I am very doubtful I will have the same optimisms I had late January this year over the next 2-3 years.

We need to put players in NBA. Greene enjoy this. If you won a million would you be happy?
If we all had happy meters that can quantify our happiness I would be very confident I would score very well.

Was I unhappy when Cam left? No! I realize it is part of the game now. Do I have any resentment towards him? NO! I am not angry. I am not sad.

If Ace decommits or Dylan ends up not coming here. I wont be upset. I know how Pike built this program. I know how gets people to buy in. I know we would be fine.

I am guessing not $5,000,000.

If Dylan commits to Rutgers I got to think there will be 1 entity that says why are these 2 at Rutgers and not a different school. I think the probability would be high some entity reaches out to them together and puts a huge number in front of them.

Your mind is made up that Dylan’s defensive intensity is not going to cut it based on a handful of games you watched from his junior year of high school?

Our program has been built on defense out of necessity. That was the best path to making us competitive at a time when high level recruits wouldn’t even consider coming to Rutgers. Pike builds his team’s identity around the players he has.

The Ohio State example is a bad comparison. That team had one late first rounder on it (Sensabaugh went 28th). We’re talking about a team with two (potentially three depending on what happens with Gavin) first round picks. We were a top 10 defense last year with a rotation that featured Paul Mulcahy, Cam Spencer, Aundre Hyatt, Dean Reiber and Oskar Palmquist, you don’t think Pike could get Dylan and Ace to play decent enough team defense?

I can count on my 10 fingers the number of times Rutgers has had big moments during my lifetime. There’s no way in hell I ain’t going to enjoy landing the number 1 and 2 players in the country, even if we don’t make the tournament. Enjoy life while you can and go RU!

Just the national press and help in future recruiting alone is pretty valuable.

5 star recruits help programs.

Are you saying we should only recruit 4 star and below?

With NIL there’s no guarantee any good player stays more than a year.

In the next few years, I think you will have the same optimisms in MARCH, instead of January.
