What is wrong with you? seriously. Let me take you by the hand and lead you up the thread. You said that "we have to make things again". I proved to you that our ability to make things is at an all time high thus showing that your statement is wrong. See how simple that is? That is the only reason I'm in this thread, to counter your wrong statement. I'm done explaining this to you.

And I explained in detail what I meant. You're simply either too ignorant to understand or you simply do not want to understand. Not sure about 5,000,000 manufacturing jobs lost that you don't understand.

You wouldn't even acknowledge the last paragraph in your own posted article which is exactly what I was referring to.

My only guess is that you don't care about the middle class or upward mobility. The middle class median income is lower today than in 1999.

These costs are insane. I have 5 daughters. 4 have gone to out of state schools. Each cost more than $45K per year. Who can afford this? There is so much waste in these schools, it's insane. We have to get those costs way, way down. I love Gates idea of technology to greatly lower the cost of a good education.

My youngest who graduated H.S. last year, is now taking College classes through an online program because it costs so much to send him just to a 2 year school. It's crazy. Now he's taking his classes online through Liberty University, and working. Once he gets his undergrad degree, if he wants to pursue advanced education, he'll be able to pay for it without taking on a massive amount of debt.

I am considering online for my last child particularly as the technology gets better and better. It is a great choice. The debt many of these poor kids absorb without good paying jobs awaiting is breathtaking.

Yes you're right again. We looked at Kennesaw State University for him, North Georgia College, Clayton State University, and Georgia Gwinnett Technical College all locally, and the least expensive was still well over 6K a year and that was just for tuition! He's still living at home.

We looked into a Computer science undergrad program at Liberty University Online, and found the costs to be half that...program is accredited and very innovative in both its approach and instruction. He's set up with a technology partnership run by a former Graduate...who runs his own computer company where my Son can do lab work and other "hands on" assignments, DNB Tech of Lawrenceville Ga. http://www.dnbtech.com/

So it's a nice cost effective option for him and me, and as I mentioned if he wants to pursue an advanced degree say at Georgia Tech or Emory, he will have the funds to pay for it on his own since he also works full time and is already making roughly 28K managing IT and accounting systems for the front office of a local Supermarket (Publix) near my home.

I couldn't afford to send him to WVU, even though he was interested in following my path there.

With a computer science degree, he will do great. Just keep him away from gender studies, lol.

Yes, that's another benefit of LUO (Liberty University Online) that being a Christian based school, a lot of that is not even offered. He's working on an undergrad with an emphasis on information systems management, so he should be in great demand by the time he Graduates. He can even accelerate his degree program which he is doing to finish up in roughly 2 1/2 years in stead of 4.

More savings.

Don't mean to interfere with a personal family issue but I'm pretty well versed on the subject of kids and college in Georgia. Have you explored Chattahoochee Technical college? I know several people that have gone through their programs and have done well. Not sure of the cost.

I heard it's a good school but the drawback is that it's way down yonder.
