1. talk about generational differences...watching some TV today and listening to all the accolades about the accomplishment of sending astronauts around the moon...fascinating stuff.
But, back in 1969, my wife was about 1 month from delivering our son, who is now 55, which tells me that those of you who are 60 or so, weren't around when we actually landed people on the moon, spent time there and then brought those astronauts back to earth...seems as if we've wasted about 60 years of science...as we're back to where we were pre 1969
2. Most of you know that I'm a middle of the road guy - used to be criticized frequently, and relatively harshly as "both sides". I usually can comment on the good and bad of our leaders and will often comment on some of the "over the top" comments from posters on "both sides". But right now, I have to admit, that things are not going well in this administration. Forget all the promises about ending the war in Ukraine, eliminating inflation, reducing grocery prices on day one....anyone with even a basic understanding of economics could not have put any stock in those comments. But beyond those promises, where we are right now almost makes you want to crawl under a rock until the trump storm passes...inflation, tariffs, deadlocks in Congress, government shutdowns, affordability and..I could go on, but you get the message. I understand the need for those on the left to do nothing but criticize and for those on the right to support..and I really don't put a lot of belief in podcasts from people who only know what they read in the papers or hear from others and spout that as fact, but right now we're in a little (or lot depending on your perspective) bit of trouble, and need to take some significant actions to get us back on track as a nation. I've been through a lot of administrations and seen more than most of you - Vietnam, the Carter year, Iran Contra, balanced budgets, WMD, etc and some of these were bad times, but right now I think this is worse, especially right now that our leaders in the House and Senate don't seem willing to talk to each other...and this just exacerbates the problems.
Just thought I'd give my impressions..Also, it would be nice if posters could debate each other without all the name calling. Most of us are rational (not all of us), college graduates, have kids of our own, have good jobs...can't we do better?
Ok, I'll wait to be called all the names
