While I know that there are multiple rumors posted on this board every hour this is nothing but a few FACTS

1. Monday- Offensive coordinator from Alabama was in Meridian and had a long talk with Russel. From what I gathered from the conversations that I heard it went really well, they apparently have made promises such as "you will be my guy by year 2" and "with your arm we can get you on the national spotlight in no time"

2. Tuesday- QB coach from Alabama was in Meridian at the Russel house and spent about 2 1/2 hours there talking to Russel about numerous things.

3. The head coach from Meridian told a very reliable source of mine that he has concerns with Mullens offense and so does Russel. Russel is skeptical of Mullens offense with him in it because of the fact that Mullen has always had a run type QB...which Russel is not

4. Russel has told my source face-to-face that he is happy that State got a big time offensive minded coach but he is going to have to listen to what Mullen has to say about his presence in the new offense. Russel is aware that he can not run the ball and that he is a pure pocket passer.

5. Russel, Patterson, and Bumphis have apparently formed some kind of "pact" to where they have apparently (not 100%) said that they will and want to play together in the next level . Russel and Patterson have been hanging out and some of my people have said that they have seen Russel and Patterson together in Phily

With all this being said I for one am very very very happy with the new coach that we just hired. I hope that Mullen will look at Russel and see what potential he has. Keep in mind that while Mullen was at BG his qb was mobile...while at Utah Alex Smith was very mobile and his offense was made to taylor his attributes...Chris Leaks numbers fell his 3rd year (Mullens arrival) because they (staff) tried to make Leak a dual threat qb

I think this is a great day for bulldog nation and we should all be very proud of our school and the accomplishment we just achieved...I just knew a few people were wondering about some of our prospects and knew that I could spread a little light on the situation.

problem for Russell to understand he will remain a pocket passer at MSU.

Meridian runs the Florida offense, and Tyler Russell ran the ball often in it. I don't see how that's a concern.

Great Hire with Mullen..

Russell will be a Bulldog, along with Patterson.
We will pick up a few more along the way.
I bet we actually score in the spring game this year too.
Croom is not going anywhere, who would hire him?

The Ninja strikes...

Russell called SR at about 1:00 pm to tell him how excited he and the other commits were about the Mullen hire.

My guy is a sports announcer out of Meridian and is in Mobile...he and his family go to the same church as Russel does and they have had him over to eat at his house for the past 2 years so its pretty reliable...

He will be in a MSU uniform for the first game next season and Tyson Lee will be the designated field goal/extra point holder.

Patterson doesn't want to go to state, Bumphis and Russell don't want to go to ole miss. Maybe they can all get on at bama.

This is just crap High School guys say when they get together and it means very little.

and telling him he would win a National Championship as the starter in the first two years.

You're not the only person that knows anybody in Meridian.

It had to be his clone in Meridian. Marcus Boyles is down there as head coach for the Mississippi team and would have had a stroke if Russell left for an interview. AL may have went to Mobile, but these kids are busy from 7AM to 4PM with practice and meals. They also have activities in the evenings. Not to say your source is making this up but I don't think that is entirely accurate.

Tyler left Meridian early Monday headed to Mobile so it would be kinda hard to meet with him there and at his house for 2 1/2 hours on Tuesday. The AL wide reciever coach came to Meridian lunch room to talk to coaches for a minute and that was it. So your source needs to get another source

That Tyler Russell called him, personally, on his cell phone after the Mullen hire was made "public". Said he was very excited about the hire as were several of the other recruits there with him. Said that Russell called him right before todays afternoon practice.

And, yes, they have been on the coast all week so it would be hard for the Bama folks to sit down with him and talk at his home.

At some point he brings up the "they all want to play together" pact. It never ever happens.

Patterson isn't going to State. Bumphis and Russell aren't going to Ole Miss. They all three can't go to Bama, they don't have the room. Besides, if Patterson wanted to play with anyone, it would be Fletcher Cox, not Russell.
I still think Bumphis, Thames, Russell, Cox, and Boyd end up at State and Patterson and Hardy end up in Oxford. Ole Miss may get Norwood too because Bama probably isn't going to have the room.

Seriously people have been talking about Bama and Russell the last couple of days...Mullen will adapt with the players he has I don't think he is going to force our star recruit into anything especially making him run when is a passing QB...and I bet when the guys made their pact they where up in the tree house in Tyler's back yard...seriously they aren't in 6th grade

That even sounds right. He wanted to go to Florida and if Mullen can convince him he will use him like Harvin State has as good a shot as anyone if not better. .

I see Patterson going Bama or somewhere random but I don't see him staying in state.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but #1 and #2 I highly doubt those rumors are true some because of the following reason. Tyler Russell has been in Mobile since Sunday afternoon getting ready for the MS/AL all-star game.

Russell has been busy at practice today and did not find out about Mullins until they all heard it right before practice. Unless Gene can produce a taped conversation, this is as suspect as District Dogs' info. Russell does not have a pocket on his practice uniform for his cellphone.......

I mean seriously, you think it's going to go over real well if they post that and it's not true. I mean that's not even twisting the words of recruits. That's just flat out lying. And I have never seen Rosebowl flat out lie. Especially with a top recruit like Russell.

The news of Dan Mullen's expected hiring apparently made it to Mobile and the MS/AL all-star game.

I received a call from Tyler Russell just before they headed out to practice. He reports that all of the recruits, not just the MSU commitments, are extremely excited about the news.
per Rosebowl. I mean **** why would he lie about something like this.

one of the Mississippi Coach's who said that Russell has not had much free time on his hands today and simply said that Mullins was a good hire. It is just hard to believe that Russell would have his phone with him at practice. Now if he knew this before, like maybe before 7AM, then ok, I am wrong.
