I dare say that last yrs Memphis defense was worse that JSU this yr. I see three TD passes and a heavy dose of running the ball in the second half. No need to show AU all we got......

He needs some game experience just in case TR gets injured.

of read option. He will probably run it so well(because it's JSU) that it creates a little interest and people start wanting Prescott in the game as soon as Tyler throws his first INT of the season. What would we do without a backup that we think is better than the starter by mid season?***

and then a steady dose of Dak. Let the first team get some rest for Auburn so we don't lose two lineman.

I'm not sure he'll reach 5 TDs still, but I think we will be very pass heavy in the JSU game since we'll be running more than we should against AU. Basically, I'm not that confident that our passing game is going to be real good this year, so no need to show Auburn how much we plan to run. Let them prepare for the pass.

A) dont show much in the opener against a weak opponent to keep it as a surprise for week 2

B) show tons of stuff in a meaningless opener so that your week 2 opponent has to spend alot of time preparing for all kinds of ****- and they may not focus on stopping what you do best as much.

We will score 50+ on J-State and Prescott will get nearly 2 quarters of action

Might as well get good at executing the plays you plan on running later in the season. Surprises will do no good if they are poorly executed.

Dak has never played D1 football...he needs reps, even if it's JSU. So I'm not real sure what you're talking about.

If you are not 'confident' in the passing game, why not use the JSU game to really 'air it out' and give the OL, QBs, & recievers greater confidence and more experience heading into the AU game?

Run blocking and run game in general, is a lot easier to master in practice than the passing game.

on the viarieties of plays. Hell Auburn will prepare on what they think we'll run and them make adjustments. </p>

If the game is out of hand, I think we'll be using one of our 4 running backs that we think are serviceable or better. I'm sure Dak will run some read option b/c he has to get reps, but I don't think you'll see a steady dose of it since we only have two scholarship qb's.

Could certainly be wrong. Maybe Mullen will decide that it's much more important for Dak to get reps with the same plays he'd be running if the game matters, or maybe he thinks having Dak run it doesn't really increase his injury risk enough to matter. I just know if our second string qb gets hurt on his 10th rushing attempt against JSU, it's going to be a long season.

Obviously we misunderstood each other. I definitely don't want Dak running the ball the whole 4th quarter...but I would like to see him run the offense, and the read option game a little like Relf did. Of course, handing it off more than running it himself.
