Thompson over Robb was already covered. The other matches to end the day were Plott teching Gavin Nelson 10-0 in 1:16, Mower losing to Marcus Coleman 10-0, and Traub losing to Christian Knop 10-0.

I just watched the Jax/Nashon match. Jax is a junior in high school. Let that sink in. Flo said he was going to wrestle at U20s. But a week ago, he was wrestling in Stillwater and they immediately entered him into the Senior tournament. Good choice. The world is on notice.
If Jax can win tonight he locks up the u23 world team spot and has a shot at the senior world team spot. Crazy for a 16/17? year old.

. Will be interesting to get the scoop on what happened.Rocklin Zinkin won by tech he is a verbal commitment wrestling 55kg at u17. He has 1 year left in high school and is a 2 time California state champ. He is not a top recruit but could be over time.
Carter beats Vince Cornella 8-5. Got a TD to leg lace and 3 turns early. Second period Cornella got 2 points on exposure. Later got a takedown and then a late stepout. Good scrap.

Thompson had Welsh as his opponent who is tough but lost 5 to 0. People say the negative about Welsh is he has no offense. He appears to be an offensive machine compared to Thompson. I don't know the percentages of fault( I assume it is mostly on Thompson) but it does not appear that he has developed at all in Stillwater. That includes his half of a year in high school. Mentally he seems to struggle, and he did not have 1 good attack. Plott won also.
To me it looks like he just doesn't have enough endurance.

Carter loses to Aden Valncia 14-4. Carter got the first two takedowns but Valencia defended the lace both times. Carter will have a rematch against Beau Bartlett in the 5th place match.

Thompson and Young always seem to have gas tank issues.
It seemed Valencia decided I am not letting this guy beat me and just started bullying Young and teched him. Young in the 2nd period didn't have much today.
Plott got teched? Just following scores and didn't see it, but he must have been turned several times quickly.
Plott loses to Mike Macc 11-0. Was close all match. Macc got a takedown into a lace in the second period and Plott seemed to stop fighting after the first turn. Probably hurt like hell.

He was behind 1 to 0 by 30 second count, in the 2nd period he got faked out bad and taken down for 3 to 0 got leg laced a bunch for the tech.
That’s the reason I’m not a big fan of freestyle rules. Those 10 “back” points scored against Plott are ********. I understand that’s the rules but they are ******** rules. In no way shape or form is the aven a remote possibility that you could ever oin someone in that manner and to call that shoulder exposure is a joke,
Ethan Teague techs Roman Gonzalez in about 14 seconds. Got a TD to lace with 3 turns off the whistle. Then another TD to finish it off the next whistle.
Things aren't starting out so well with Vega not in the tournament and some uninspiring wrestling but we have Robideau, Lockett, Merrill, Ross and Jax coming up. I watched Lincoln Robideau win his 1st match by tech. He just overpowered his opponent.
I really like the freestyle rules except for this one. I think once you turn a guy with a move to get more back points you should have to release that hold and hook it up again like in collegiate wrestling.
