If you want some good info on the Big 12, watch clips of the commissioner's interview on the Big 12 media day. UConn is not on the table for now. It's a media-generated idea during the summer when things are slow. The Big 12 wants to secure its west flank (Pac 12) before they make any other move. UCF and Cincy fill their current need to go east for now.
Exactly

If anything …I can see the big 12 adding Utah As nunber 14, further weakening the pac-12 to 8 programs…and any attempted raid of the pac-12 on the big 12 makes a mess of their foot print

The aggresicw scanario I have for the big 12 is adding Utah …and then the two Arizona schools to get to 16. They get to 16 by adding Denver , Salt Lake City and Phoenix markets …and they , outside UCF, cincy and WVU, become almost geographically continuous in the center of the US…

The pac 12 is out of business

And I really don’t see anyone from the big 12 being poached by the SEC. Same with the big 10 (sorry Kansas baskerball ).

That 16 team suoer confrence has a chance of stability as nunber 3

Leaving the ACC as a much weaker 4

The questions is under this scanario what happens to the remaining 6 pac 12, all of which are original confrenxe member

Does the big ten take all…or poach the best two (Oregon and Washington)

Without Arizona and Arizona state , there is not a pac 12. Ditto Oregon and washinggon

Utah shound be making a lot of phone calls now
To the big 12

Oregon atate and Washington state is in a dangerous spot .

Best road game ever
Jealous
I was at last years BC game, which, not nearly as dramatic, still a painful late loss for the home team

I would have worried about making it to my car if at the UConn game, didn't worry about BC so much

Connie football fans are savages. They make Cult State fans at Crappy Valley look like civilized people.

The big ten should not take all the remaining
PAC teams, just the two already figured on, if that

Additions should at least keep payouts from declining, and hopefully adding

Some PAC teams would be a negative overall

Unfortunately, the PAC-12 is now cooked. Expecting Arizona, Arizona St. and/or Utah to leave next. Expecting increased lobbying from Washington and Oregon on BigTen door. Not hearing anything about Stanford or Cal, but given Stanford's strong financial resources, they'll land somewhere fine or not care. Cal likely in more trouble and the lack of good athletic investments will finally do them into Mountain West purgatory, where San Jose St and Fresno St say 'hello' to them (which will piss off their alums and finally wake them up to the fact its too late (lesson for Rutgers fans too - never get comfortable. Never.)). Oregon St and Washington St essentially will be Mountain West, which could end up rebranding to PAC-12.

I think Arizona would be the best Big 12 candidate. They have the high end hoop program like a UConn but they're logistically a better fit for the conference members.

I don't believe the Big Ten is done expanding----will take 2 more Pac 9 schools in the next 12 months and my guess would be Washington and Stanford.

Unless they can get us then there would be no Stanford.

UW and Stanford works for me...gets the Bay Area and PNW markets, elite academics for both, and adds yet another one of ND's historic rivals.

I feel ND overplayed its hand. They might have to settle for the ACC when the smoke settle. Otherwise, they better get on their knees and blow hard to steal one of the two spots. 🤣

Stanford will not get BigTen the Bay Area market. They have a strong following around the campus, but not the wider Bay Area. Cal has more of that. Stanford draw may be for ND. As for Cal, may be it goes Big 12 in a sneak move.

I would think BigTen order right now is: ND, Washington/Oregon, Stanford or Cal. Of course all speculation. The BigTen and SEC have always been good about playing cards close to the vest.

I still like the b1g just going to 24 right away, this slow meandering process is annoying.

Add: cal, Stanford, UW and UO from the Pac. Then FSU, Clemson, Virgina and ND or UNC. With those four gone, and a major shot across the bow of the SEC, others will leave and the grant of rights will fall apart.

Make four 6 team divisions for all sports.

Big Ten is such hotshit-----except for one thing Doug.

They don't win anything. At some point shouldn't that happen ?

Last years unbeaten football champ lost to TCU in the Playoff. Who in turn got " edged " in the Final 65-7.

Then ND should fit right in with the B1G. 🤣
We would be in better comp in the ACC as they have 6 National Championships in the last 10 years.

Three each in football and hoops-------3 different schools in hoops-----2 in football.

The Big 10 has the Buckeyes in football in 2014.

Not a great look.

Back in the day, I wished RU would go to the ACC to keep the old rivalries. But it is clear now the B10 was the better move. Syracuse, Pitt, BC, and Louisville have not added any real value to the ACC. Miami was the only school that has contributed.

RU Football hasn’t been successful but men’s basketball has had some success. Some success in other sports as well. Biggest gain has been the NY, NJ, and Philadelphia markets.

If you hate on Rutgers, then why are you posting here? It’s a free world- I get it- but maybe better for your mental health to be on a ND msg board.

Don't hate on Rutgers a bit----attend 2-3 home football games in the Fall and prior to when we head down South for the winter I get to a hoop game or two early season. I root for them.

Just don't like people who trash other programs and conferences when their house is far from in order.

Fair. But I wasn’t trashing these other programs and the ACC. I don’t think adding the former Big East teams added any real value other than increasing the number of teams. Still a south-centric league. Rutgers is not perfect, but I see the value added to the B10 in terms of markets and recruiting territory, and potential future success of RU is a good thing for the conference. Just my opinion.

Love the backtracking going on here.
I guess it is just a coincidence we brought the Big Ten a ton of money.

ND Fan says Rutgers hasn't added anything to the Big Ten:
Everyone yells about how much money Rutgers has added to the conference

Rutgers fan says we should have gotten a better entry deal because of the money we were bringing with us:
Shut up!! We were offered a life raft. Rutgers is beyond lucky the Big Ten took charity on us out of the goodness of their heart!! We were a huge risk to be added.

One of the enlightened gentry here was trashing Pitt .

Here's a heads up for him-----they've won 10 the last 2 seasons.

I could see Oregon State and Washington State in the Mountain West when the dust settles.
Yes, with the rest of the Four Corners schools joining the Big 12. The schools in bad trouble are Cal and Stanford. Perhaps the Big Ten will ride to their rescue because they are academically prestigious, provide schools for UCLA and USC to play without having to constantly come two time zones east for road games, and bring carriage fees for the Bay Area (although note that, as cable fades, carriage fees are less important). It is also not completely impossible that Cal and Stanford will get out of big time sports, although I think this is extremely unlikely.

Big deal. 10 wins last 2 season isn't too impressive.
Rutgers has won 9 games the last 2 seasons(5-8, 4-8).

Funny how you get all juiced up about a school you never attended and you misread statements. I’m sure Pitt is happy you care.

The same account that posted this “rumor” and started the spiraling, now says this: (also, his bio says “Satire” ie the fact people believed this at all shows how fast fake news becomes fact if enough people want it to be true)

It's a UCF fan's Twitter account. Citronaut Juicer is the name of the account. The Citronaut was the first mascot of Florida Technological University, which later became UCF.

I only knew this because of the amount of time I spend on their board.

Said in jest and seems ridiculous and would never happen but I bet both sides would go for it.

Yes posted in jest and ridiculous, But:
according to how many wind up left in the Pac and who they can get to join, an east division including UConn might be something they look into while they're trying to survive as a P-5 .
Memphis, Temple,South Florida, Tulane and East Carolina might be part of it.
But the reality probably is : what's left in the PAC after all is said and done wouldn't be worth those programs to leave where they're at and hook up with the PAC .
