Kansas State center transfer Ugonna Onyenso has signed with Virginia, @chris_hummer and I have learned for @cbssports/@247sports.

The 7-foot, 245-pound former top-35 overall recruit who began his career at Kentucky. Started 14 games for Kentucky during the 2023-24 season.

Pretty interesting that aside from Juzang and maybe some others I'm missing.. almost NO outgoing UK transfers have amounted to anything. Still time for Ugo and Bradshaw.. but from guys like Matthews to Whitney to Askew.. and these aren't just 4th year 3-star players.. these are highly touted recruits. You'd think some of them would do a little better. I guess Hopkins is pretty solid..

Matthew was pretty solid player at Michigan

Main contributor of Michigan team he engaged in

Juzang and Wiltjer are probably the best 2, both were All-Americans and took their new teams to the Final Four.

Matthews was solid for Michigan.

Thiero obviously had a good year this year.

Hopkins is solid.

Keion Brooks was excellent at Washington (I still wish we had never pushed him out, Toppin was so much worse than Brooks and it was a big reason for our drop off in Oscar's 2nd year).

But yeah, the vast majority of guys who transferred out ended up disappointing.

Was just about to say this.

Matthews averaged 13 ppg, 5 rpg as a starter on the 2018 Michigan national runner-up team. Not superstar production but more solid than average.

Guarantee he transfers one more time at least. Guys like him and their handler are all about the next pay day. Probably already looking for next year offer.

He’s a senior so he’ll be out of eligibility. Kansas St looks like they are done for. I think they only have 4-5 guys on the roster right now

Really? They spent a ton last year as well, wonder if Tang is feeling the heat? He was a cocky dude. Obviously very good as an assistant and appeared early on to be a decent coach. Never know these days seems like they all get five years no matter what. Played 160 games? So what, here’s another year!

Toppin ended up being a massive disappointment. I’d have been fine with recruiting over him and Brooks in hindsight.

Except Cal would have continued to keep him on the bench which is why he left to begin with. Cal would have found someone he favored because of a High School 5 star rating rather than someone producing. Saw too much of that with Cal.

Exactly. SOB loved to say he couldn’t hide kids but damn he worked his *** off trying.

If he is smart he can get a diploma from UVA or even redshirt and work on his masters and on his offensive game.

The kid went to Washington and averaged 18 PPG and 7 RPG in year 1, and 21 PPG and 7 RPG in year 2.

Averaging 10 PPG so far in the NBA since being upgraded to the Pelicans in February.

He was already good for us and had 2 years left, he could have been a huge difference maker, plus he had good defensive splits and could protect the rim a bit.

Instead we gave the keys to Jacob Toppin who was TERRIBLE. There's no doubt in my mind that a huge reason for our drop off the following year from a 2 seed down to a 6 seed was forcing Keion out.

I think a lot of people turned on Brooks because of the Rupp remark. But he was asked and didn't seem to know what to say.

Good luck to Yugo

Keion Brooks, good at a lot of things on the court, but great at none of them.

He became great at a lot of things at Washington the next 2 years, and instead we handed the keys to Jacob Toppin who was only good at one thing, jumping. Other than that, he was bad at a lot of things.
